[ in this au, you and ciel are over twenty. :) ]
MY MOTHER ONCE told me that a lot of guys can make you feel butterflies in your stomach, but only one can make you feel that way for a long time. I can understand what she meant - you can fall in love with so many guys, and only one can make you feel in a way where nobody else can.
I wanted to write to her and tell her that I already found that special someone she was talking about; but the unsent letter remained under my pillow for what seemed like months. The reason was like any other lady in love with someone - because that person that makes me feel like nobody else? It was the boy I've been friends with for almost all my life.
Ciel Phantomhive - a very noble young man that has suffered a tragic past. He's the strongest person I know - having to endure a childhood without the love of your parents or a sibling. Yet, he still manages to act professionally. I admire him a lot for that, even if it means watching him grow up with the same cold expression.
As the cheesy romantic poems say - I loved him with all of me. We were so close, yet so far away. I have held his hand a million times, but the one thing that I cannot hold is his old, icy heart.

Ciel invited me over to his place. Of course, I accepted with no hesitation; knowing very well that I couldn't pass up an opportunity to see him.
Arriving at his well-maintained mansion, I was greeted by Finny, his awfully sweet gardener with a hearty laugh. I waved back at him with a wide smile, and continued to make my way to the entrance.
Before I could knock, the door swung open, and out stepped the ever-so charming Sebastian Michaelis, my all-time favorite butler. His lips curled into his usual formal smile, and took a humble bow before me.
"My, (Y/N)! How nice to see you," he said, stepping aside to reveal the well-furnished manor inside. "Come in, Ciel is waiting for you."
I smiled. "Thank you, Sebastian. It's always nice to see you, too."
I stepped inside and inhaled the sickly sweet scent of vanilla wafting around. I looked back at Sebastian. "Vanilla today? Is there a special occasion?" I asked.
Sebastian chuckled. "Why, yes, my lady. Just be patient with him, he's on his way--"
"(Y/N),"
There it was - the same wave of butterflies I always felt just when I hear his voice. I took a gulp and straightened my posture and tried to keep calm. I mustered a smile and looked straight into his eyes forcefully.
"Hello, Ciel." I greeted.
A small smile formed on his lips. "Hello to you as well," he replied. "Come quick, I have something important to tell you."
Another wave of butterflies wafted inside me. "Alright."
We walked our way outside of the mansion and into the garden, passing by an abundance of all sorts of flowers in all sorts of colors. I always loved strolling around his garden - it was so colorful and lively. Like it has a world of its own.
