KYUUTA WAS ALREADY up in as early as 5:30 in the morning. The sun hasn't even risen yet, but he was already scurrying for a new set of clothes. His bowl of egg rice was left to be feasted on by flies on the dining table he and his master always ate on, and for sure he'd be socked later when he gets back to start training.
Running and jumping across stairs leading to the main road, he had one thing in his mind—to see (Y/N). He'd been hanging out with you for quite some time now, specifically during winter. It was funny how you and him met, actually, you were just reading a book in a coffee shop when he bust open the door and asked the name of the novel you were reading. It was embarrassing and out of the blue, but it managed to spark something between you, like a click.
Once he passed by a small field of flowers, he halted to a full stop and stooped down to pick a few. He got the prettiest of the bunch, and nodded to himself contentedly before holding them in his hand like a small bouquet. He'd give this to you, of course. Maybe you'd teach him a few rare species of them, or hopefully, get started on another book! But what stood out the most to him was to see you. It'd been weeks since last he did.
Bolting for the alleyway that led to the outside world, his effort fell into vain when he was easily stopped by someone holding the hood of his, well, hoodie. He stumbled backwards and fell butt-first onto the paved ground. There was a lightning of pain that shot up his rear, he nearly swore out loud.
"Where do you think you're going?" Kumatetsu's voice boomed. "We're about to train."
"I'm gonna go see (Y/N)," the lad replied hastily. He got up on his feet and turned around, but he was reprimanded by Kumatetsu once more. Groaning, he said, "please? I really need to see her!"
The bear frowned. "Like I said, training's about to start!" He motioned for his house's rooftop.
"You can see (Y/N) later."
Kyuuta let out a sigh of exasperation as if to disagree with his master's terms, but he soon followed him. He still itched to see her, though.

As soon as Kumatetsu told Kyuuta that training was done, he went for the door leading outside in a whim. Hyakushūbō and Tatara could only watch as the bear's human disciple scurry through town and disappear amidst the crowd of animals. He definitely stood out with such a striking face.
The monk turned to Kumatetsu, looking puzzled. "Where's Kyuuta off to?" He asked.
Kumatetsu sighed. "He's gonna see a human girl."
This brought a smile to Hyakushūbō's lips. "Oh, I see. It's plain and simple young love. How nice it must be for him, right?"
"Nyeh," the bear waved his hand to brush off the monk's statement. "Love, schmove. Disgusting." He muttered as he turned on his foot to walk back to the house.
Kyuuta's heart was racing. He felt incredibly nervous, he could hardly breathe! He just felt so excited to see you again and learn something new like always. The last lesson he learned from you were types of flowers, which made his little present for you fitting. He was standing outside the local library, his darted to all sorts of directions to see if you were anywhere nearby.
"Haa~" cooed a familiar voice, one that rocked the butterflies in Kyuuta's stomach awake and fluttering. "Kyuuta-kun! Is that you?"
He turned around and saw a pretty-looking maiden staring back. That alone was enough to make his tongue turn into mush. As an unfortunate lad who has only managed to talk to one girl in his whole life, he was rendered speechless.
You walked closer, grinning from ear to ear. Kyuuta wasn't the only one who was excited—you were, too. In fact, you could hardly focus on whatever you were doing since you were preoccupied with so many thoughts. Thoughts of him. He never left your mind. All day, 24/7.
Kyuuta racked his brain for words. "I uh, he-he—greetings!"
You tilted your head to the side, confused. "Huh?"
The flowers! He mentally exclaimed. He quickly pulled out the small bouquet of flowers he picked earlier and presented it to the maiden before him, only now some of them were wilted, and missing petals.
He braced for the worst. Tatara told him that if you give a girl wilted flowers, she'd get angry and slap you. Of course he took it as a legitimate fact, setting aside the possible thought that it was only based off his experience, and not the truth. Squeezing his eyes shut, he prepared for the sting of a woman's slap, only that, it never came. At all.
You chuckled. "Kyuuta-kun, why are you looking like that?" You asked, taking the flowers from his large hands gently.
He started to feel the heat on his ears. "Uh, y-you're not gonna slap me?" Kyuuta looked visibly confused. "Or get angry? At all?"
"Of course not!" You replied, smiling. "They're wilted, yes, but that doesn't make them any less of a flower. It's still pretty."
"Really?"
Rolling your eyes, you grabbed his wrist and led him inside the library. You took note of his beet red face, and somehow, it made you a little flustered, too. "Come on, let's continue where we left off. Was it the types of tropical flowers?"
"Orchids." He corrected, his eyes still on the sight of your hand holding his wrist. His stomach felt very warm just by feeling the heat of your palm on his skin. What a sensation.
You decided to glance towards the lad. "By the way, you suck at flirting," a quiet snicker left your lips, and Kyuuta seemed to turn even more red, if that was possible.
"But I don't mind. I like your style. I like everything about you. I like you, Kyuuta-kun."
The fluffy-haired boy looked away and tried to mask his surprise. But honestly? He would've loved to sweep you off your feet and take you with him to the Beast Kingdom so you'd never have to be apart.
"Y-Yeah... I like you too, (Y/N)-san."
