WORDS OF THE LIVINGFor everyone
Snippets of information
Funnelling from the air into your ears
Hushed voices outside public toilets
Crushing of crisp packets fills the racket
Bicycle spokes turning as the rider glides across gentle slopes
Like an ice rink, the wheels leaving small shavings of water froze
Who we are, the life we choseThe tiny fragments you are exposed to
The look in their eye, a trace of fragrance
The babble of busyness
A mere flicker of their most personal desires
Tangible, yet not measured with machines or wires
Neither snipped and bent with pliersThey are us, and we are them
But what are they?
And how do they follow us every day?
What are the hushed voices of the population
Our brain's personal narration
Changing our narrative
Demanding as much effort as we can give
The sounds we only see in slumber
The things not controlled by law or numberWe call them dreams
And they are present in all human beings
