Chapter 47

Chester's POV
That week went by so quickly and there was only about two days left until Christmas. Mike and I were both so excited.

I finished wrapping all of Mike's gifts and put them under the tree. I had gotten him mostly clothes, but I had went back to the mall a few times during that week and found him quite a bit of things that weren't clothes. Now the last thing I needed to do was go to an animal shelter and see if I could find a dog. I wasn't necessarily planning on adopting right then, but I figured I'd look at some and then bring Mike a few days after Christmas to get one.

When I went to a shelter, a nice lady led me around and told me about each dog. They were all so adorable.

"What kind of dog are you looking for exactly? Do you want a bigger dog? A small dog? A dog that works well with kids or other pets?" She asked before she showed me any. "My boyfriend and I wanted a smaller dog that would work well with our Brussels Griffon." I said.

(I spent like an hour looking up dog breeds to try and figure out wtf Jasper is. He looks a lot like a Brussels Griffon, so that's what he's gonna be in this XD)

"Ah. Well we have several small dogs that work well with others. Come on and I'll show you some." She said.

She showed me several and told me where each one came from and I loved them all, but the one that I fell in love with the most was a Corgi named Pepper. He was just a puppy and the woman said she had found him in an abandoned house with a few others. I needed this dog and I knew Mike would love him too.

"I love him so much." I said as I knelt down to him and stuck my fingers through the bars his kennel door to pet him. "Well if you want him all you have to do is come up to the front, sign some papers, pay a fee and he's all yours." She said. I smiled and nodded. "Yeah I want him." I said. She smiled and I followed her to the front.

About a half hour later, I finally got to leave with Pepper. "Oh my God. Mike is gonna love you." I said as we walked to the car. I put him in the passenger seat and just about cried because of how fucking cute he was.

I went to the pet store and bought him some puppy food, a collar, some toys and a little bed. It hit me that Christmas was two days away and I had to keep him a secret from Mike for that long. I sighed a little and called Ryan. "Ryan can you puppy sit for me?" I asked when he answered. "Puppy?" He asked. "I just adopted a puppy for Mike and I need him to be a secret until Christmas morning." "I'm going back to Arizona remember?" He said. "Oh yeah. Well I guess I'll talk to you later." I said. "I'm sorry man. I totally would, but ya know." "Yeah. Anyway I'll talk to you later." "Okay. Bye." "Bye." I hung up the phone and sighed.

"What are we gonna do now Pepper?" I asked. He tilted his head to the side and I smiled. "You are the cutest thing." I put the car in gear and started driving home. "I guess Mike's getting an early present." I said to myself.

I made it to the house, got Pepper out and the things I bought for him. I went inside and didn't see Mike which meant he was probably in his studio. I walked down the hallway and sure enough he was there.

"Hey babe." I said as I stuck my head in the door. "Hey Ches." He said as he looked up from his computer. "I have an early Christmas present for you but you have to close your eyes." I said. He chuckled a little. "Okay." He rolled his computer chair out a little and closed his eyes.

"I hope you like it because I can't and won't take it back." I said. "Um okay?" He said nervously. I slowly put Pepper in his lap and he tensed up a little. "You can open your eyes." He slowly opened his eyes and looked down. His jaw dropped.

"Oh. My. God. You got me a puppy!?" He asked excitedly. I laughed and nodded. "Oh my he's so cute! What's his name?" "Pepper." "That's adorable!" He hugged him and let him lick his face. "I'm gonna fucking cry Chester." He said. "He's so cute." I smiled. "I knew you'd love him."
