Chapter 72

After the kiss incident, things were a little weird for a bit, but we all soon got back into our routines and it was getting more and more back to normal as the days passed.

The baby was getting closer and closer to being in our arms and we were so excited.

Turns out, our baby was going to be born sooner than we had thought.

We were just chilling at home one day when I got a frantic phone call from Kat. I knew she had an appointment that afternoon, but we didn't go because it was just going to be a normal check up.

"Ches... get to the hospital now. I'm having the baby." Kat said as calmly as possible over the phone. Her voice was wavering though and I could tell she was panicking. My heart sank a little. "What? No... you're not due for like another 15 weeks!" I said. I was freaking out. I remembered how Annie had been born at just two months early and had a hard time breathing on her own for a bit. "Chester. I need you to calm down and come to the hospital with Mike. Okay? This baby is coming." She said. "Okay. Okay. We'll be there in a few." I said.

"Mike! We have to go to the hospital. Kat is having the baby." I said as I ran around the house grabbing my wallet, keys and the diaper bag. "What?" He asked, coming out of his studio and rubbing his eyes from staring at his laptop for God knows how long. "Kat is having the baby. Like soon. We have to go." I said. His eyes widened and he nodded.

"Um... okay. Let me get my things and I'll meet you at the car." Mike said. "Okay. Hurry up." I said. I went out to the Jeep and made sure we had the carseat in and everything. I started it up and waited for Mike. After a few minutes he jogged into the garage and hopped into the passenger seat.

"I hope everything is okay." I mumbled as I backed out and headed to the hospital. "It will be. She's gonna be strong like her daddy, Chazy. I know it." He said. I smiled a little and looked at him. He was tearing up a little and I could tell he was worried too. I just looked away and focused on driving. After a few minutes, he intertwined his hand in mine and held it tightly.

We finally got to the hospital and found the room Kat was in. She looked tired and I could tell she had been crying. I closed the door and she looked up at us.

"Guys... I'm scared." She said quietly. We both nodded. "Us too." We said. We sat down in the seats beside the bed and didn't know what to say. "It was just supposed to be a normal check up... and then they tell me that I'm gonna have her soon sometime today. It's too early, and I'm so scared she won't make it." She said.

"Hey... she's gonna make it. She's got Shinoda and Bennington blood in her. She'll make it." Mike said as he reached over and put a hand on her shoulder. I internally sighed a little. Anytime they were around eachother all I could see was them making out. I forgave them both, but it was hard to forget.

A few hours passed and then Kat had the baby. We should've been happy to see our baby, and we were in a way, but she was so tiny, just two pounds and three ounces, and we were more scared than anything. A lot of her organs weren't fully developed yet, and she couldn't breathe on her own, so she had to be immediately put in the NICU. We weren't even given the chance to hold her.

"She's so tiny." Mike whispered as we pulled up chairs and looked at our baby in the little clear box she was in. "I wanna hold her so bad." I said. Tears were falling from both of our eyes as we looked at her.

"We can open it if you'd like to talk to her? You have to talk quietly though. She might be startled by your voice." A nurse said after a while. We nodded and she opened a little door. "Can I... Are we allowed to touch her?" Mike asked. "Gently, yes." She said. We nodded and she left us to talk to our baby.
