Chapter 12

Kitsune and Tokoyami sat underneath the tree.

They did this every day after school.
Just sitting there in silence, listening to the birds and enjoying each other's company.

Tokoyami had grown to enjoy Kitsune's presence in the past two weeks.
She was a bubbly girl, but also enjoyed the peace and quiet with him from time to time.

Her phone buzzed, interrupting the silence.

"It's Ravan", she said, looking at the screen. "He's asking if I can meet up with the boys in the treehouse."

"Treehouse?", Tokoyami asked curiously.

She nodded. "It's our friend Oliver's treehouse."

"You should get going then", he said, closing his eyes again.

She looked down. "Will you go with me?"

Tokoyami was surprised. "Why?"

"I like hanging out with you."

Her voice was so full of innocence, he didn't know how he could refuse.

He agreed to go with her to the tree house.

Ravan stretched out on a couch, leaving barely any room for Grayson on the end.

"Where am I going to sit?", Antony asked quietly.

Grayson smirked and held out his arms.
"You can sit in my lap."

Antony looked nervous, and scratched at his antlers as he reluctantly sat down on Grayson's lap. Grayson wrapped his arms around him and held him close.

"Where's Kitsune?", Jett asked from the other couch. Oliver had his feet resting in Jett's lap while he was reading a book.

Ravan looked at his phone.
"I sent her a message, I don't know where she is."

"I'm here!"

The little voice came from the entrance.

Kitsune crawled through the hatch and into the treehouse.

"There's my cutie!", Ravan said, hopping up from the couch and sweeping her up in a hug.

"It's Kitty, Ravan", she corrected again, hugging him back.

"You're still a cutie."

"I brought a friend if you don't mind."

"Who?", Ravan asked in confusion.

A head popped up through the hatch.

Ravan grit his teeth.

It was Tokoyami.

Tyler could hear Ravan cursing in his head.

Ravan couldn't stand Tokoyami. It seemed that ever since that one morning,  she started spending more and more time with him.

And less and less time with Ravan.

Which was a good thing to Tyler, because they could have more time to themselves.
But Ravan continued to get angrier and more possessive of Kitsune.

Kitsune offered a spot on the couch to Tokoyami. He sat down, but Ravan sat on the other side of her and wrapped his arm around her.

"So, you're in the hero course too?", Grayson asked Tokoyami.

"He's in my class", Jett responded for him.

"You're one of Kousaki's friends, I presume?", Oliver asked, looking up from his book.

The bird boy nodded.

"Well any friend of Kitty's is a friend of mine", Ravan lied through his teeth.

"I appreciate that", Tokoyami said, completely oblivious.

Jett pulled out a deck of cards.

"Anyone down?"

"UNO!", Grayson cheered.
