Chapter 23

Aizawa scratched at his neck.
"We're going to be observing class B today. They are doing the Heroes versus Villains training like we've done before."

"This should be interesting", Momo said, standing up along with the rest of the class.

"What are you smiling about?", Shoji asked quietly from behind Tokoyami.

Tokoyami quickly changed back to his cold demeanor. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Sero grinned mischievously, nudging Shoji with his elbow.
"He's just excited he gets to see Kousaki."

"Who's that?"

"A friend", Tokoyami quickly said.

"A friiieeend", Kaminari teased.

Kitsune adjusted her goggles. She flashed a smile at Monoma, her partner in the training.
"You ready?"

They were the heroes up against Tetsutetsu and Kendo.

Monoma smirked smugly. "I'm always prepared. Kendo and Tetsutetsu won't stay by their bomb. I overheard them. They'll be in the floor below.  Far away enough to throw us off guard, but still close enough to defend."

He held his hand up and gave Kitsune a little high five.
"Let's show Class A who's the better heroes."

Kitsune nervously fiddled with her braid. Tokoyami would be watching.

But she couldn't let that distract her.

"Start", Vlad said into the mic.

Tokoyami crossed his arms, watching the screen intently. He waited for Kitsune's turn.

Would she do well?

"Start"

Monoma took the lead, leading Kitsune into the building. She followed closely behind him, feeling her anxiety rise.

What if she failed?

No. She couldn't let her nervousness or her mood swings get the best of her.

She had to focus and continue through this building.

"Watch out!"

They were on the third floor now, and Kitsune barely dodged a punch from Tetsutetsu. Kendo was right behind him, running towards them. 

Monoma brushed his hand against Tetsutetsu's arm as he dodged another punch. He used his copycat quirk and turned his body to steel.

"Let's go!", he said, going head-on with the other steel boy.

Kitsune quickly scampered away from Kendo.

She had to focus.

The girl jutted out her hand towards Kendo and blasted a ray of light at Kendo's eyes.

Kendo shielded her eyes and kept running towards her. 

"Turn it up, Kousaki!", Momoma yelled, wrestling out of an arm lock with Tetsutetsu.

"I don't know if I can do it!", Kitsune shouted back, running away from Kendo's vastly large hands. 

"Try your best!"

Kendo wrapped her hands around Kitsune, clasping her tightly.

"Got you", Kendo said triumphantly.

"Not for long", Kitsune said.

"Kousaki is trapped in Kendo's hands!", Midoriya shouted.

"Come on, you can do it", Tokoyami pressed under his breath, "Show them what you can do. I know you can do it."

The cameras suddenly blurred out with a bright light.

The camera's returned to focus and Kousaki was gone.

A bright light was flying through the halls and up stairs.

Kendo was frantically waving her hands around. They were red and blistered.

"She's sunburned!", Midoriya shouted once more, "Kousaki is speeding towards the target!"

"Yes!", Tokoyami cheered, causing the students around him to stare.

"There goes his girl!", Sero joined in the cheer.

"You go, faerie girl!", Kaminari said, pumping his fists through the air.

Tokoyami couldn't help but smile with pride as Kitsune dimmed and he saw her put her small hand on the faux bomb. She jumped around with joy. 

"Kousaki did it!"

"That's my  light", Tokoyami said to himself. Sero stared at him in disbelief.

"He admitted it!", he said, slapping Kaminari and Shoji's back, "He admitted it!"

Kitsune looked at the camera, and to Tokoyami it felt like she was smiling right at him.
