"Your tree...", Kitsune said quietly.

The tree they spent many afternoons together under was dead.
All the leaves had fallen and the wood was rotting. What was now left of it looked like a haunted branch.

Tokoyami brushed his hand against the rotting bark.
"But how?", he asked, "Yesterday it was perfectly fine. There's no way it could have died that quickly."

Kitsune shuddered.
"I don't like this feeling."

He nodded. "I agree. Let's leave it be for now."

He pulled her away and just a few houses down,  where his home was.

He stopped on the doorstep.

Kitsune innocently waited for him to open the door, but he was frozen.

He was about to let her inside his home.

Why was he starting to worry?

Would she find him weird?

"Aah", he sighed and turned the knob.

He awkwardly stepped inside with her following.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ravan sat perched on top of the treehouse.
He watched the two teens slip inside the dark home.
Good.
They saw his warning. The tree.
Next it will be one of them.
"Ravan, get the hell off the roof."
"I'm coming, Oliver."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Your room is... different."

Tokoyami scratched his neck.
"Is it bad?"

Kitsune had to use her quirk to see around the dark room. It was littered in different colored candles and various stones and cloths were placed in different areas.

"No, not at all", she smiled, "Just different."

She flopped on the velvet sheets of his bed and moaned loudly.

"Are you okay??"

Kitsune laughed. "Sorry, I just got sick of the stiff hospital bed. Your's is so soft."

Tokoyami shook his head.
"You are one odd girl", he said,  rummaging through his dresser. He grabbed a change of clothes and went to his bathroom, telling her he'll be right out. She silently gave him a thumbs up.

He looked at himself in the mirror.

There was absolutely nothing wrong.

She was just-

Laying in his bed.

As friends do.

He quickly changed out of his uniform and into a plain black t-shirt, then jogged back to his room.

"Kousa-"

Kitsune was curled up in a fetal position. Light snores escaped her lips.

She was asleep.

How does one fall asleep that quickly!?

Tokoyami walked over to the side of his bed and shook her arm.
"Kousaki. Kousaki, wake up."

How was he supposed to get her home?

"Okay, Kousaki, you give me no other option."

He heaved her sleeping body onto his back, carefully minding her stitches.
Kitsune smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"So you aren't asleep?", Tokoyami accused playfully.

"I was. But I'm not now."

"Okay then, we can walk back to your home-"

The girl buried her face into his back.

"Kousaki, I'm not carrying you if you're awake."

"Please, Toko-chan?", she asked playfully.

Tokoyami sighed.

Kitsune cheered as he carried her out.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She stroked the top of his head as they ventured down the street.
"Okay, we're here."
"Onward upstairs!"
He dropped her. She fell to the ground, laughing.
Tokoyami helped her up, smiling.
Kitsune clung on his arm, still laughing.
It warmed Tokoyami's heart to hear her laugh. It was like a tune he could always cherish. Such a bubbly noise.
She ran inside her home, and Tokoyami followed with his hands in his pockets.
"I'm gonna go grab my phone", she said, running up the stairs, "Monoma and Tsunotori have probably killed it already. Can you make some tea while I'm up there?"
"Okay."
Tokoyami wandered to the kitchen while she went to go find her phone.
He barely had the herbs in his cup before a high pitched wail echoed through the house.
The glass dropped to the floor, shattering.
"Kousaki!"
The wailing didn't stop.
Tokoyami sprinted up the stairwell, extremely concerned.
"Kousaki! What's wrong?!"
He burst through the doorway.
Kitsune was in the floor. Her face was red and tear-streaked. She was in the middle of a breakdown.
A piece of translucent material was in her small hands.
A piece of her wings, left behind after the attack. There was a piece left right on her phone, and a message was open.
"Pack your belongings, dear."
Tokoyami dove towards the floor, scrambling her up in his arms.
"It's okay", he said quietly. He stroked her hair and just held her as she sobbed.
"I-I don't want to go", she wailed, "I don't want to go back to America without them."
"You don't have to go, love-"
"I don't want to go anywhere without you!", she cried into his shoulder, clinging on for dear life.
Tokoyami put his chin on top of her head, cooing quietly to calm her down.
"I'm not going anywhere. And neither are you."
"Why are you so nice to me?", Kitsune whimpered.
"Because what would I do without you, Kousachan?"
"I'm a mess, Tokoyami. I can't even handle simple situations without breaking down."
"You might be a mess, but I am too. Nobody is perfect", he said quietly.
Kitsune rubbed her eyes. She glanced up at Tokoyami.
She was still shaking, but she held on to his arms.
"Toko-chan, can I do something?"
"Wha-"
Before he could ask, she leaned up and pressed her lips against his beak.
