EXTENDED PLOT:
Mattie Austen wasn't popular. It was common knowledge. She was socially awkward and unapproachable. She loved to paint rather than go to parties. She hated the popular crowd and never wanted anything to do with them. But why was Steve Harrington all of the sudden talking to her and trying to make friends with her selective mute sister?
DIALOGUE:
1 "Hey, Steve." (Melissa)
"Hey, Connie." (Steve)
"He actually spoke back to me." (Melissa)
"He called you Connie." (Mattie)
"So?" (Melissa)
"Your name is Melissa." (Mattie)
2 "Give her the right look, the right boyfriend, and bam. In six weeks she's being named homecoming queen." (Steve)
3 "So, Mattie, I was wondering if you wanted to...[Mattie walks away]... embarrass me horribly in front of all these people." (Steve)
4 "She kinda blew me off." (Steve)
5 "Is that a no?" (Steve)
"That's a hell no." (Mattie)
6 "Oh, you aren't going to cry, are you?" (Carol)
7 "Who the HELL would nominate me?" (Mattie)
8 "Sometimes when you open up to people, you let the bad in with the good." (Steve)
9 "Am I a bet? Am I a FUCKING BET?" (Mattie)
10 "You didn't think you became popular for real, did you? Oh, you did? That's so sweet." (Carol)
11 "So, can I have the last dance?" (Steve)
"No, you can have the first." (Mattie)
EXTRA BITS:
*This is based on the movie She's All That so it should follow the movie somewhat.
*Steve makes a bet with Tommy and Carol that he can turn Mattie into the most popular girl by the end of the year. Or it can follow the movie where he has to make her popular and for her to win prom queen or homecoming queen as well.
*Melissa is Mattie's best friend. She is one of the smartest people in the school and somewhat has a rivalry with Nancy on who's smarter.
*Dialogue six could go the same way the movie does or you can change up how Carol makes Mattie cry.
*You can decide to include the monster aspect into this story or not.
*Steve is embarrassed that Nancy dumped him for Jonathan. Tommy and Carol think that he's no longer the big man on campus and Steve declares that he could get any girl in the school and make her the next homecoming queen.
*Nicole is a select mute. She's very shy and doesn't trust easily.
*Someone ends up nominating Mattie for homecoming queen. Similar to how Laney is nominated for prom queen.
*Mattie and Nicole's mom passed away when Nicole was born. Their father isn't the best. He does drink a lot, but he is not abusive. He just is very absent-minded and doesn't always pay attention to his daughters.
*Mattie and Melissa should be somewhat friends with Jonathan.
