I forced my frozen feet to move and I spun around to confront the person behind me. I wasn’t for sure if it was a murder or the creature from the black lagoon but I was going to fight back no matter. As I turned around my frozen legs got tangled up over one another and I lost my balance. I fell to the carpet on my back helpless. I braced myself for the worst. I was either going to be stabbed to death, straggled, beaten, kidnapped or tortured. I wasn’t sure which would be worst but wasn’t going to be pretty for me that’s for sure. I opened my eyes so I could see who my killer was before I was done in. The black silhouette seemed oddly familiar and they just stood there looking at me. There was no hint of aggression towards me and I was wondering if this be some kind of dream. Then a flash of lighting flash lit up my entire room. The person in front of me was wearing a blue bikini.
I looked up, and saw Shadows face and I wondered if this was real.
“S-shadow”?
She leaned down closer to me and I was hoping this was just a crazy dream.
“Are you alright Justin”? She asked me and I crawled backwards over to the side table. I reached my arm up and felt for the lamp switch. I turned the nob and the light came on. It light up my entire room but it was better than nothing. I looked and Shadow was still there which meant this wasn’t a dream. Shadow was really here in the cabin and most of all in my room.
“Justin…please tell me you’re alright”? Shadow asked me again and I noticed the water dripping off her hair.
“I’m f-fine expect the fact you nearly gave me a heart attack”. I told her as I got up from off the floor.
“I’m sorry but I didn’t know if your family was here so I had to be sneaky”.
“Well that’s make sense but how did you get in here anyway”?
“The front door was unlocked”. She said and I remembered that after my family left that I didn’t lock the door.
“Yeah guess I forgot…kind of glad I did now”.
I was so happy to see that smile again that I went over to Shadow and wrapped my arms around her. She hugged me back and we put on heads on each other’s shoulder.
“Is your family here”?
“My family went to a party and I was left to cabin sit but now the storm has them trapped so I’m stuck here till tomorrow”.
“That’s good because there’s no way I’m going back out in that stupid storm”. She told me and I glanced back at my window. The storm seemed to be getting worst and I was really glad that Shadow was safe and dry inside with me.
“I’m glad too, was worried about you in this storm”. I pulled my head off her shoulder and we glanced into each other’s eyes.
“In fact I’ve been worried about you all week. Why didn’t you come to our spot all last week”? I asked her hoping the answer wasn’t because of me bringing Sarah. Shadow pulled her arms off me and walked out of mine.
“Well that’s one reason I came here but I need to confess something to you first”. Shadow said and I braced myself for the unexpected.
“I don’t know if you know this or not but every time you leave from hanging-out with me, I always secretly follow behind you to make sure you get back safety”. Shadow took a seat on the edge of my bed.
“It’s really sweet of you to make sure that I’m ok”. I told her and I had a really strong feeling that those branches I heard falling off were because of Shadow.
“Do you climb trees when you follow me”? I asked her and Shadow blushed a little. I guess she knew that I could hear those braches falling when I made my way back to the cabin.
“Sometimes it’s really hard to tell an old dead branch from a sturdy live one”. She whispered and I giggled. I remembered when I was heading back from hanging out with her I had this strange feeling of security; I never realized that it was because of a secret bodyguard.
“Listen I want you to know that I didn’t show up because I was mad at you or anything but because…I-I was scared”. Shadow said and I found it hard to believe that anything scared Shadow.
“What? Are you scared Sarah will tell or something”?
“N-no but…when you both left that night and I followed you…I heard what you said”. Shadow answered and my heart stopped. I felt my fingers turning into icicles and my knees go numb. Now that she knew how I felt about her was she coming to tell me good-bye or I love you too. The world faded away and even though there was a cacophony of thunder and wind outside, inside my room it was dead silent. My legs were starting to shake so bad that I had to sit down on my bed. I searched though my brain trying to find something to say to her.
“Say it”. She asked me as she scooted closer to me on the bed.
“What”? I uttered, hoping that maybe she wasn’t expecting me to say I love you.
“Those three little words”. She said putting her hand on top of mine. To her they were just little words but to me they were the longest words on Earth. I took a deep breath and focused on nothing else but say those words.
“I love you”.
I got dizzy and felt light headed; I hoped I wouldn’t pass out.
“I love you too”.
At first I thought my imagination was playing an evil trick on me. I gazed into her eyes and they shimmered.
“D-did y-you say w-what I think you j-just said”? I asked her, pondering if this was really happening to me.
“I know you heard me”. She uttered and my heart skipped a couple beats.
We smiled at each other and slowly leaned in closer. Our faces got closer and closer and finally our lips touched. Her lips were even sweeter than before and I could feel my hands shaking. I felt Shadow slide her arms up and she put her hands on my face. Her hands were hot and a little sweaty but I didn’t care about that. I slowed moved my hands up and placed them on her face. Her skin was silky soft and I was worried that she would feel how bad my hands were trembling. We stopped kissing for a second and we stared into each other eyes. I realized how much I really loved her and I knew she felt the same. We loved each other beyond belief and we both were ready to take the ultimate step.
