The boom of thunder scared me awake. I shoot up from my bed and glanced at my window. I could hear the sound of rain pounding the roof. I got up from my bed and looked out my window and saw nothing but darkness. Then a flash of lighting lit the forest up like someone had just turned on a giant flashlight and then turned it off again. I heard the thunder rumble a second later and it seemed to shake the ground like an earthquake. I heard a buzzing sound behind me and it made me jump. The sound kept going and I turned to look at the side table. My phone was moving on the table. I reached over and grabbed it. I looked at the screen and saw Sarah’s number on the screen. I hit the little phone shape button on the screen and put my phone to my ear.

“Hello”.

“Justin…are you alright”?

“I’m fine but what’s going on”?

“This storm has blown over a bunch of trees on the road that leads up to this mansion and we’re all stuck here”

“That sucks for you guys. When will you be able to leave”?

“Hopefully tomorrow if this rain stops and those tree guys come”. Sarah answered me and there was a little static interference.

“That’s good, and are you guys alright”? I asked even though I was really only concerned about her and Daren. The static interference was getting stronger.

“Justin you’re breaking up…listen I’ll call you in the morning. Please be careful, bye”. Then she hung up before I could tell her good-bye.

I was afraid of bad storms like these when I was a little kid but I wasn’t anymore but I still didn’t like them. There was another lighting flash as I put my phone back on the side table. I got back up and looked out the window again. It was raining cats and dogs outside but all you could see was black. It made the whole place seem like it was crawling with awful creatures and monsters. With each lighting flash I thought I saw something or someone behind a tree or moving around the cabin area. The thunder seemed to be growling at me and it just added to the strange terror this place had now. There was another lighting flash and I saw a figure coming up the front steps to the cabin. Went the black faded back in I felt my heart dropped to my feet. After the thunder growled there was another flash and I looked to see if the figure was still there. I looked and saw nothing. I let out a sigh of relief and felt my heart returned to its original place.

“So much for a nice sunny summer”.

I stared outside and wondered how Shadow was doing it this awful weather. I hoped she was alright but I knew I wasn’t going to our hang-out spot tonight. Suddenly I had a strange feeling that I wasn’t along in the cabin any more. I tried to block out the rain, thunder and wind to listen for the sound of footstep but everything else was too loud.

Did I really see someone and were they inside with me.

What if it was Brian or a serial killer?

I didn’t know if I was just losing it or if I was right. I felt my fear slither up from my feet to my spine and I froze. Then I heard the feeling that there was someone behind me. I couldn’t turn around but I wanted too just so I could see that nothing was there and it was just my mind playing tricks on me. Then I felt a hand fall on my shoulder.
