Aurora's POV

A choice, a decision... Do we really have a choice? A prophecy? The oracles never lie, they can't as it is the bonds of their gift of sight that they can never speak false words or they suffer grave consequences. But why us? Why now? Grandma will answer us as a past ally to the guardians will answer us. Lily and I reached by my house as she entered I paused and looked at the black figure watching us from across the street. Death.

Shaking my head, I walked into the house and met Lily staring her mother down.

"I'm sorry I never told you Lilz," her mum muttered sadly and placed her head into her hand.

"Sorry does not cut it, mum! Why did I have to hear something like this from HIM?!"Lily screeched.

"He's not bad, Chaos..." but was cut off by Lily's scream.

Her burning black marks began to appear on her skin, Lily was losing control of herself and reality. I stood behind and whispered the words of sleep into her ear, effectively putting her to rest. Whisking her away upstairs to the room, I laid her on my bed and went back downstairs. I finally made eye contact with my grandmother, the one with all the answers.

    "Why?" I asked her.

"He showed you?" she responded with a question.

I noticed she said showed and not told so that meant she knows of method in which Death tells a lady, she's his bride.

"Before you, he thought I was his bride," she paused, "he asked to see my destiny string but I refused, he kidnapped me and carried me to the realm of Souls, his world and tried to forcefully extract and examine it."

"Is that why you hate him so much?" I asked.

"Yeah, he had succeed and saw what my future held, that's how he knew about the curse and about you," she replied as her face started to flush with anger, "I almost died, neither your mother nor you would be here if I did, THAT INCORRIGIBLE BASTARD!"

"You still should have told me grandmother," was all I said and walked back where my best friend laid asleep.

When I entered the room, Lily was deep in sleep. I took a bath and laid next to her. I remember when we found out  what our destinies were.

*FLASHBACK*

The Trainer had trained us for 1 year in Guardian Realm (refer back to chapter 1) but then suddenly things changed. One day he said that even though we knew how to tap into our power we needed to know how to function apart.

"BUT TRAINER! We're always gonna be together!" Lily and I exclaimed together.

He smiled and ruffled our hair, "Yeah yeah you brats but the Guardian Master want you two to be independently strong, only then will you be unbeatable together."

"You keep talking about this Guardian Master and we never see him," Lily pouted.

"He will only meet you when you can invoke your true forms, you little brats, as he chose you two for very special reasons," our trainer just grinned slyly at us.

Training had intensified and had gotten a lot more deadly.  We called him Old man T, he pushed us beyond what we thought was our boundaries. He broke what we called weakness and limit. It was during this time, Lily and I learnt what it meant to be Guardians. Slowly my bond to young children of the Earth realm formed and it was this very bond that gave birth to this intense feeling of love and protectiveness for Earth and all that resided on it. We learnt pain, happiness, love, hate, anger, frustration  and all our emotions all over again. We were broken and burnt, it was only then we rose from the ashes of our naive selves like the majestic phoenix.
