Death's POV
It has been over a week since I broke the news of our true relationship to my bride and I wished I could say it had a positive change in our relationship as well as our interactions. However I could not because since that night where she closed the door in my face, she has been avoiding me or giving me simple nods and broken eye contact. What did I do wrong? I growled and raked my hand through my hair.
"Thanatos," I grumbled at the man shuffling through some files of the upcoming cases that I would have to preside over, "Why are women so complicated?"
"You finally figured it out and told her I take it?" the said man looked at his frustrated master, " Didn't go so well?"
Telling him all I could about the night before, he grimaced at me. Shaking his head, I knew he knew what the issue was.
"Death, she's right," he shock his head at me, "You are clueless."
"Tell me Thanatos or I will put you on hospital field duty again," I growled, cruel given his line of work but I am not one for games or insults.
"Well you refused to give her a proper explanation for Lilith's stay here, you are being too private and it sounds as if you are hiding something intimate from her," Thanatos took a seat opposite me and looked at the mantle above my head, "And I think the fact that you more or less compared her rights to this place as the same as that of Lilith's , a woman who very obviously like you, really sealed your fate."
I looked at him strangely. I did not say that her and Lilith were the same but that their rights to live here were more or less the same. Thanatos just shock his head at me and sighed. Now was my time to grimaced, he knew I didn't understand why I was wrong. He informed me of private business he had and left me to my own thoughts.
I inhaled still smelling her feminine scent, still felt her soft body in my hands, her soft lips against mines. My body was lit afire and the sweet burn turned almost primal as I continued to think of her.
"I thought after you accepted her, I would not need to appear outside again," that irritating voice spoke, "But it seems I have overestimated your abilities to keep our fated happy."
I looked up at the ever so looming form of Yang of the Yin Yang pair. I waved my hand at the man in front of me. He was so different from what I was, so much more milder and calm but just as silent and deadly.
"Like you'd do any better," I mutter swiveling around in my chair to face my window.
"My Yin was happy before it all," he said softly.
So he spoke about THAT time now. Was this part of the so called healing process for him? When I said nothing, he sat quietly behind me and began playing his guzheng. He played that haunting song that enveloped me in my darkness. His playing however grew darker and darker as did my mood as memories of that time flooded over us, the happiness, the sadness, the tragedy. Something was wrong with us but we could do nothing. Yang played until his finger bled black and I stood up with a sudden blind rage. Why did I feel so antsy, why did I feel so frustrated, why did I feel so angry? It was not just Yang's music or my memories. There was a nasty stench and immediately I knew the scent of that bastard Endymion was not just in my realm but in my castle. I would not stand for such insolence.
