i pulled on some leggings that i'd transfigured from a pair of old pants i'd gotten at the dursley's. I slipped on my shoes and wrapped the sleeping bag around my shoulders before picking up my keepsake book. I put the flowers and the note inside it and then left the room though not before picking up levi and wrapping him around my shoulders so he wouldn't be stuck in my room all day. I snuck into harmione's room and set down her present then I did the same with fred and george's room and lastly harry and ron's room setting a present at the end of each of their beds. then i left the common room and headed towards hagrids hut. the sleeping bag heated up noticeably when I stepped outside which I was thankful for.

I smiled as I saw hagrid was already awake and seemed to be on his way to the school with a large tree on his shoulder. he looked worried as he said "oi' canis what are ye' doin' out 'ere. ye'll catch yur' death out 'n this cold." I rolled my eyes with a kind smile and said "i'm fine hagrid this sleeping bag is keeping me plenty warm. I came to give you your Christmas gift, thank you for the book by the way i'll make sure to put it to good use when the phoenix hatches." he nodded and said "o' course canis. let me put 'is tree 'n thu great 'all."

I nodded and said "that's fine, I wanted to help decorate the great hall today anyway." we chatted pleasantly as we walked and after hagrid put the tree in it's place he turned towards me expectantly. I opened my keepsake book and took out a rather large quilt, it was five times my size and each square had a different magical beast sewn into it. their was one large square in the middle with a picture of Norberta in all her glory. I saw tears in hagrids eyes as I handed the giant quilt to him, which i'd made sure was big enough to cover all of him and then some.

he started sobbing as he held the quilt and said "this i-i-is a-a-amazin' canis. thank ye' so much!" I patted his arm comfortingly as I said "it's no problem at all hagrid. i'm glad you like it." he walked off sobbing as I noticed snape pass him with a disgusted but curious look in his eyes. I walked up to professor snape smiling as I said "Merry Christmas Professor." he eyed the sleeping bag still on my shoulders as he said "Merry Christmas Miss Potter."

I opened my keepsake book and took out a quill, the feather was semi large and pitch black, it was a ravens feather, the tip was a pure gold color and it had a red ribbon around it. I held it out to Snape and said "this is for you professor. You can take the bow off if you'd like, wasn't sure how to wrap a quill without a box." he took it gently and I noticed the corners of his mouth go up just slightly as he said "thank you Canis. It's quite beautiful." I nodded and before I could go back to decorating the hall he stopped me by saying "actually ms potter, I'd like to speak with you in private for a moment." I lifted a brow in question before nodding and following him silently as he led me to an empty nearby hallway.

I notice Snape do a silent spell and was a little surprised at the sight. He stopped when we were out of sight down the hallway and turned around pulling a book from his robes. He held it out to me without making eye contact and said "merry Christmas canis. I thought you might enjoy learning some more... Advanced spells. The book is a collection of the spells I've created over the years, some spells in there aren't exactly allowed for second years so do keep it a secret between us alright?" I felt a warmth spread threw my heart as I opened the book to see it was filled with many spells and even a few potions, most of which I'd never even heard of. I smiled softly as I realized the handwriting from the note earlier and the handwriting in the book looked quite similar. Though I couldn't be completely sure until I compared the two. I brushed my fingers over the words as I asked "did you write this yourself professor?" there was no audible answer but when I looked back up at him I managed to catch just the slightest nod of his head. The warmth I felt only seemed to blossom even more as I hugged him before he could react and said "thank you, for everything father."
