I open up the piece of paper on the bed and read it. "Save me, doctor"
What the heck is this? There ain't no hospital in this forest. Hospitals, huh? Medicine?
Could he be talking about those flowers that grow outside behind the cottage? I heard him said they can be used for healing.
I go for it and yes, my prediction was right. Another piece of paper is lying there among the violet flowers.
Just how many papers do I have time find? This is insane...
"Splashy harmony" It says.
Well, this one is not that hard to figure out. It's obviously about that river flowing through this forest. But... Which side?
I walk there to the river and glance around. I don't see anything that can be my next clue. Well, I'll just have to keep searching.
I keep walking along the river downstream. I check the other side too. This is taking longer than I had expected. I don't see another notes for me.
Maybe the previous paper wasn't about the river? But then, what else could it possibly be?
This is hard... I have to use my brain. How I wish I was smarter than I am now.
Damn, I hate this task. I kick some rocks as I walk. I'm about to kick another bigger one when I see something suspicious. Hell yeah! A piece of paper is underneath this rock. Or...maybe it's a stone.
I try to lift the stone up to get the paper. But the stone sure is heavy as hell. It seems so small but actually, it weights heavier than my body.
How is that even possible?!
I lift it up with both hands. Due to my physical strength, I manage to do it. But it's probably much harder for normal people.
I get the paper and read it. "5(-3x - 2) - (x - 3) = -4(4x + 5) + 13"
What now?! A math problem? This is really stupid. He wants me to solve this? That idiot. Why should I do it?
I stare at the piece of paper for a while. I think I can solve it. I haven't done this for a while but I'll give it a try.
Picking a stick nearby, I start tracing numbers on the dirt. I've decided that the answer is how many step I should walk and lead myself to the next clue.
^×^×^×^×^×^
"So... Is this it?" I solved it! I did! Is it the correct answer? The final result is 0=0.
What am I supposed to do with this answer???
Damn, what to do? What to do? Since it's zero than I have to walk zero step? What the heck... I got the wrong answer?
Perhaps it's underneath?
I grab a stick and start digging around the spot. I found it!
"Drowning fried egg"
I chuckle at the statement. It's kinda weird. What's this one anyway? An egg? Drowning? Seriously? Is this some kind of joke?
A fried egg in the forest. What the heck? Maybe in a bird's nest? But which one? Man, this is hopeless.
I glance at the sun. It's setting down slowly. Its color is orange now and it looks so round like a circle. The scenery is just so beautiful.
Hey... I figured it out.
Smirking to myself, I run towards the hill where I can see the sun setting down quite fast.
I reach the top of the hill and stare at the sun. It doesn't burn my eyes in the evening like this. I can see the view perfectly of the sun sinking down.
Another piece of paper is there, as expected. I grin and open it. This should be the last one. If it isn't, I quit. All these hunting get me so worked up all day.
"On top of the world"
Where exactly is that? Hmm, I think I know where to check.
I walk back into the forest. It's getting dark due to the sun isn't here at this side of the planet anymore.
Finally, I reach my destination. The tallest tree I can think of. Not to mention, the tree where I had been attacked by some crazy squirrels.
I know I told myself not to come near this tree ever again. But seems like this is the place I've been looking for.
I carefully climb up the tree so as not to disturb the family of squirrels again. Once I reach the top branch, I knew I had made the right decision in coming back.
There's no paper lying in front of me. Instead, there's the person waiting for my appearance.
"Found you" I say in a low whisper.
"Took you long enough" Sensei replies. His eyes on me.
I sit down on the branch beside him and make myself comfortable. "Is this the top of the world?" I ask.
"Yeah. We can see pretty high from up here"
"I thought so"
My eyelids feel heavy. I can barely keep them open.
"Kaoru, will you be okay on your own tonight?" He asks.
"Why?"
"I have to go somewhere" He says.
"No. I spent all day searching for you. And now you're leaving me just like that? I won't allow it"
Sensei wraps his arms around my shoulder. "It's quite important, though" He says.
"More important than me?" I can't really think of anything appropriate to say. So just go with that.
"Not really"
"Then there's no reason for you to leave"
I don't know what I'm saying. Why do I want him to stay? Who knows he might try something again?
"Then, I'll stay here with you" He says.
Wow, he listens to me for once!"When I wake up, I want to see you with me. Don't just dissapear" I say before shutting my eyes completely.
"Yes, princess"
