Fp's POV-
It was that time of the year again. Hermione's famous class of 98 reunion. Every fall Hermione would host a party just for the class of 98. She says it's so important to keep in touch and because she still, after all of these years has Fred wrapped around her finger, he drags me along every year. This year though Gladys came back and we continued our family again. We had are arguments, but since I am sober again things have been looking up. We arrived to Hermione's childhood home that looked over Sweetwater river.The dress code was white, so me and Fred wore white suits like every other man and Gladys wore a short white dress. It was plain, but I admit it looked good. I hooked my arm around Gladys as we entered the backyard. It was actually pleasant this year. There was drinks and wine for the ladies. We chatted with a few people then went onto the dance floor since we lost Fred. He is probably somewhere with Hermione. Music and the hum of voices floated across the immaculate lawn. The sound of a woman's laughter rang in my ear.
Of course she was here why wouldn't she be. She wore an elegant cream colored gown with gold accent. She looked stunning as always. "Excuse me I'm going to find the bathroom." I smiled at Gladys and slipped through the crowd. I didn't go to the bathroom, I went down to the docks. I couldn't stand to see Alice next to Hal. she looked happy yes, but it still hurts that I am not the one making her happy.
I sit down at the dock and feel a tear run down my cheek. Why am I crying my wife is back and I am crying over a highschool relationship. I heard footsteps behind me and I quickly wiped me tear away. "You ok?" I tuned around stunned to see Alice Cooper behind me. She laid her hand onto my shoulder and took a seat next to me. I stayed quiet not really knowing what to say. "Hey talk to me." Her face softened. "I don't know how." I scoffed and put my head down.
"Why im just a person." She rubbed circles on my back. "You see that's where you're wrong." I stood up and started walking along the river. I hoped she followed me, but of course when I turned around she was gone.
Alice's POV-
Hal always insisted we went to Hermione's reunion parties. 'Were the perfect family'. Hal always repeated, so there was no way we could forget. The party aspect didn't bother me it's who was on the guest list. The whole class of 98 was invited, which meant I would see him.I wore a long white gown Hal had bought me. It wasn't my style at all. I would love to be in a short and tight dress that exposed a little skin, but that would be inappropriate. This dress made me feel old and depressed. We arrived at the party and Hermione really out did herself this year. I immediately put on my fake smile and laugh. Hooking my arm around Hals. we talked to some old football friends of Hals and other northside people, but nobody I was interested in.
Then I spot him. He looks amazing in his white suit. A person in front of my moves and I see his wife Gladys hooked onto his arm. My heart broke into a million pieces. I thought they were separated. He was smiling and happy. Throughout the night. I snuck glances at him hoping to catch his eyes one time.
The one time our eyes met he walked away and down to the docs and just sat there. "Honey i'm going to go powder my nose I will be right back." I gave a fake smile then slipped down by the water. I sat down next to him and asked him if he was ok. He just shook me off. I tried talking to him as a friend, but that didn't work. "I'm just a person." "That's where you're wrong." He stood up and left me sitting along the doc. I watched him walk away while his voice rang through my head.
I heard Hal calling for my. I wiped my dress off and brushed away my tear that I didn't even know had fallen. I walked back up to him and our group. "Where did you go?" Hal asked and kissed my cheek. "Just picking a spot out for tonight Hermione said there were going to fireworks." I smiled and wrapped my arm around him.
The only thing I could focus on was the river. Did he walk back up here? I looked everywhere for him. I couldn't find him and the fireworks were starting. Hal and I walked back to the doc and sat down. It was completely dark outside, so Hal didn't see the tears that I let fall.
I looked around us hoping to find him and I did. Him and Gladys were sitting along the bank on a blanket laughing and enjoying the night. He was happy and I wasn't the one making him laugh.
Third person POV-
That night the two star-crossed lovers broke their own hearts. They were both too stubborn to realise that they were in love. All it would have took was someone breaking their pride and not letting the other slip through their fingers again. If they chased after one another instead of walking away. The story we know now could be different. From this moment on they would continue living their lives. Even if they wished it was different.{timeline for this story is before the kids were born. Gladys had left once,but later found out she was pregnant so she came back, leading to the second time she left.}
