From a distance I can still see Summer sashaying away from me with a frown of annoyance. It was easy to piss her off. Step one, act like a dick. Step two, tell her she's mean, rude—anything similar will do. Step three, watch her growl then sashay away. And yes sashay, sassy.I know what I did wasn't right but it was nice to see her crack. The lines in her face go from simple content to an unsettling anger. Maybe it was just me being an asshole, I could care less.
Walking home did sound nice at the moment. There was no particular reason for me even being out here, I should be at home working on homework. Finals for the first semester we're just a month away and I need a C average to continue to the second semester.
Sometimes I'm tempted to fail, just so I can go back home. Beverly Hills is just so rich and not in a good way. Unusual is what I'd say. I know better then to go through with that plan though. Mainly because of my mom. Here they have better doctors for her.
Mom suffers from paranoia and I've known about it since Dad passed away. His death wasn't tragic necessarily, more like an accident. He did construction and had a terrible stroke on the job. No one noticed until later in the day and it all just went downhill from there. I was twelve.
The house stood dark and quiet. I ran up the stairs to my normal teenage boy room, grabbed my backpack and threw myself into some homework. "Fuck me." I groan out loud looking at my assignments for the week. All this bullshit just for me to play soccer, get the fucking word right.
I find myself doing little homework, before falling into bed in my boxers. It's hot for the winter, and Im used to it. My fan blows softly in the corner while I try to let my eyes rest. They just won't.
It's not even my eyes fault, it's my brain. I won't stop thinking. The littlest things will unsettle me, like a cough in my throat. Or even something like saliva pooling up in my mouth, causing me to swallow consistently every ten seconds.
Summer is just a battle that I am winning, sleep is not.
