Michael and I prepared food for everyone. We were the only two that could easily work in the kitchen without the possibility of setting it on fire. Well Michael was just here because he wanted to help me taste the homemade food. Summer was playing games with Ashton while Calum was sleeping on the sofa.
"So how did you even meet Summer?" Michael questions from the counter.
"I was out on a walk and we sort of bumped into each other." I shrugged and turned back to forming meatballs.
"You just casually walked into that." Michael's holds a hand up to Summer. I take a quick look at her and see her laughing her butt off at the dumb game. "I mean that's fucking, wow."
"Trust me, I know." I stir the spaghetti and toss the meatballs in. "At first I didn't like her though, thought she was a brat actually. Eventually we got to know each other and yknow."
"Oh, I know." He laughs. "I saw it yesterday when she grabbed your face and you made out with her in front of us."
I roll my eyes. Michael leaves the kitchen and joins everyone else in the living room. Yes, Summer and I were a bit of an odd pair, but that's what I like about us. We're two socially different people with intimate interests.
Speaking of, a pair of arms wrap around me, and the girl placed her head against my back. "They kicked me out." She grumbled. I can feel the him of her voice against my upper back.
"I'm sorry." I mutter and place the kid back onto the noodles. "Food will be ready soon though."
"Good." She pulls me around and leans up to cup my face. "I'm having a fun time."
I peck her nose. "Glad you can get along with them."
"I really like what we have going Luke."
"Well... you don't know everything yet so don't speak so soon."
Summer shakes her head with frustration. "I don't think you understand... I'm in this because of you, the person you are to me. Not your family issues or personal problems. So whatever it is, doesn't matter. Okay?"
I smile at Summer and that's all I can do. She made me feel protected and wanted all in this very moment with those couple of sentences. Sunshine lingers across her face from the window making her green eyes pop out. I grab her chin and press a soft kiss to her lips. Their sweet and as usual taste like chapstick. "Thanks Summer." Summer holds onto my arm and hangs out with me while I finish cooking.
When we decided to go back, we stop at Summers house so she can pack a bag to go over to my house. It's time she meets my mom, and if that doesn't scare her off— I don't know what will. Does this girl really care for me that much? Who knows, maybe this is all a nightmare.
A girl like Summer dating me, falling in love. Just for her to leave me, just like dad did. Just like my brothers. Everyone's left but my boys, mom, and her. Hopefully she stays.
