"Lukey.."

"Hey Lukey..."

"Lukey!"

I jump up and groan as I accidentally bump my head into the one next to me. Wait a second. I open up my eyes to see Summer doing the same, rubbing her head with a soft groan. Everything from the night before pops into my head and I grimace.

"Fuck," i mutter. "One minute mum!" I yell to the woman downstairs waiting for her meds.

"I forgot about school." Summer groans kicking off the covers and stretching out her back. "Do you want me to sneak out the window, or use the door?"

I let my eyes wonder over her morning look. Eyes a fresh glow, hair tangled, skin warm. She radiating everything she gives off to be; glowing tangled, and warm.

"You can use the door, just hide behind me when we go down." I ask yet state. She nods and jumps off the bed. I follow and wait for her to grab her things before sneaking down the stairs.

"Thank you, again. I'll see you at school okay?" She searches my eyes and I smile at her warm.

"Alright honey." I don't know how I came up with the nickname but it's there to stay. I kiss her check and wave her goodbye.

When the door is closed and she's out of view, I rush to mums side to give her the meds she'd need for the day. Soccer practice was after school, our last before break so I informed her of that before heading up to my room to get ready.

I gathered my notes for exams and shoved them into my bag before flying out the door and walking to school. Yes, I have a car and a license in America, but school traffic is the worst kind.

When I see Summer again, she's in her uniform walking around campus with Bengi. She waves me over. "Hey." I sigh. I look everywhere but her eyes. I'm afraid to see the judgement from what I had told her last nigh— granted she knew nothing of my mother's illness and my fathers death.

"Bengi this is Luke." She introduces. Her eyes are sparkling today with something new, I wonder how she feels about this.

Bengi gives a long stare, from the top of my curls to the bottom of my vans. "Okay, luke." He tests my name. "Soccer huh?"

"Uhm, yeah." I stutter.

"Must be good to be brought all the way from Sydney." He states. I nod.

As I'm about to walk off Summer grabs my hand and stares into my eyes, deeply. "Can we talk after school?"

I shake my head. "I have practice."

"After then." She offers. "I'll wait by the tree."

I sigh and agree. Really, I knew the conversation would come up eventually about everything. I just don't know if I'm ready for her to know that. We've only been talking a few weeks and things seem to move to fast. For me at least.

Maybe Summers ready. Am I though?
