Summer still sleeps in my bed while I'm downstairs helping my mom get ready for the airport. She'd fly back to Australia for the rest of winter and come back in February. Jack realized that she's a bit much for me to handle right now with school and well, my wonderful girlfriend that sleeps upstairs. "I'm going to miss you Lukey, be safe and keep the house clean." Mum pressed as I walk her to the cab outside. She's sane enough to figure out the airport.
"I'll miss you too mum. Don't forget to ask for help with finding your gate if you need any. And if security bothers you about your medication call me or Jack." I'll admit I'm worried for her. Jack assured me she'll be alright but he hasn't been here, he wouldn't know.
"I got it. Bring it in, love." She reaches up and holds me in her arms rocking me back and forth like how she did when I was younger. Her tears began to wet my chest and I started to cry as well. For the next few months I'll be completely and it's scary.
We say our goodbyes and I watch the cab drive away, waving though she can't see. Summer does this though, and maybe this will be fun, being alone.
"Luke come back in." I turn and see my now brunette girl standing at the door, draped in my hoodie and her own sweatpants. She knew this wasn't going to be an exciting kind of day where we would explore the richness of Beverly Hills.
"Alright baby." I give one last longing look to the place my mom and I were hugging a second ago before turning around and joining my girl inside. "Did I wake you up?"
"No. I just felt you leave and couldn't fall back asleep." She pouts. We go to the bathroom together and brush our teeth. Summer makes a silly face and receives a small laugh from me. When she spits away the toothpaste and cleans her mouth she begins to play with her hair. "I can't believe you convinced me to dye it back to brown."
"Beautiful." I murmur through the toothbrush. I spit out my own toothpaste and clean my mouth. Looking at her I smile. "You look beautiful no matter what I just don't want you to feel like something you're not."
Summer nodded and jumped onto my back. I carried her back to bed where we curled up in my comforter. "I'm sorry you have to be alone for a bit." The girl exhaled rubbing my chest. Her touch soothed the pain.
"I think I'll be okay honey but thank you." I lean down and peck her soft minty lips.
Silence filled the room and we both just cuddled and shared the moment together. "Let's go on a date." I blurt at realization me and the girl haven't been on a proper one.
Summer gives me a goofy grin. "Really?"
"Yeah, we can go ice skating in LA. I have that truck for a reason."
She squeals and sits up. "Yes! I've always wanted a real date." Her green eyes sparkle at the subject.
I wave a hand. "Then get ready baby."
