Katelyn drags me by the ear out of bed. Not literally, but you get the point. All of my completed assignments and other little papers were messily thrown into my backpack by my friend as I got myself ready. We had a routine, that way I could look more presentable at school.
The trick was to have your clothes set, and to slide in some earrings. They're clean and simple witch is a quality I'd like to represent. When I'm ready we bounce down the stairs which allows me to grab some quick breakfast. The nanny, Sierra who was barely twenty six had cooked up some waffles for me to grab and go. She's sweet.
When we make it school, we sit at our table and I rethink last night. Luke really pissed me off, and hurt my feelings a bit. No ones ever said those things about me and it made a little blow. Although I'm hurt I wanted to talk more with him. Outside of school of course.
Luke had he aurora of real ness that I simply can't be at school. It'd have to be sometime at night on a long walk.
The day passes quick and I find myself walking home from student council. We're working on a new dance theme to throw this winter. Although all that seems to devour my mind is Luke Hemmings and his snarky tone. It was tricky and had me tossing in confusion.
The night encased me as I wonder down the street into my gated community. I feel safe here. When I come up the pavement I drop my bag into the bush before letting myself walk the regular path to my good old electric box.
The box is cold and mixes with my warm skin. I look into the tree trying to see if Luke would be here, and of course he was. This time a small guitar laid in his lap. He played with the strings and hummed a soft tune.
You can tell he doesn't know I'm here, and I don't plan on changing that. So I play with the pleats of my skirt and listen closely. The song was sweet and low. "Before we started, it was over
I feel our bodies getting colder
She gives me, a feeling that I can't fight
And it's the road that leads to nowhere
But all I want to do is go there
She's got me, running from the daylight, daylight."Luke sings and sings. And his voice is indescribably good. When my phone chimes, the tree shakes and he looks down. "Hi." I say softly.
"What the fuck were your doing." He spits harshly with a look of disgust.
"Listening."
"You fucking sneak. Don't tell anyone, okay?"
"I'm sorry," I'm afraid to look into his eyes so I look at the stars. "Your good at singing is all."
He blushes and looks away. Luke goes back to strumming his guitar and I go back to thinking.
