Yoongi's POV
"Yoongi! I need to you to do me a favor!" Jungkook runs up to me and pants heavily, clearly out of breath.
I pat his back a little bit to try and help. "Depends, what is it?"
"I need you to pick up Sydney for me. Please, I just realized that I don't have anything to give her when we meet up." He stands up straight and starts pacing. "Do I get her flowers? Do I get her a little bear? No I can win her one at the festival..." Jungkook then throws himself on the couch face first and yells into the cushions.
"Do you really have to get her something? It's not like an official date or anything, so you don't have to." I say, trying desperately to get out of picking up a strange girl.
"But she's so cute and I want her to like me." He whines.
I walk over and pat his back once more. "Fine, if you really want to get her something, get her flowers. Not roses, just something like.." I wrack my brain for any information on girls that could help. "Get her something yellow. Yellow means friendship in terms of flowers."
"So does that mean she'll think of me as just a friend? What if that never changes because I got her yellow flowers?" The frustrated male sits up and starts bouncing his leg with the ball of his foot on the ground.
"Just get her yellow flowers, I'm sure she'll love it no matter what. And if she doesn't like them, leave her. Only a super stuck up bitch wouldn't like a nice gesture like flowers." I try and speak some sense into him, but only because I just want him to shut up.
Jungkook takes a deep breath and stands up suddenly, causing me to flinch. "Okay, hyung. I'm gonna text her and tell her that you're picking her up instead of me." He gives me a quick hug and runs towards the front door. "I'll text you her address when I get it!"
And with that, he was gone. 'God, I hope she isn't stuck up or annoying. There's no way I'd be able to put up with that all night.'
Sydney's POV
The next morning came and went very, very fast. Just as I was exiting the shower, my music paused and my phone started ringing.
"Hello?" I picked it up without reading the caller ID."H-Hey, it's Jungkook." The man stammered. "I'm just calling to ask if it's okay if my friend picks you up instead of me?" I paused to ponder if it's a good idea or not. Just as I was about to say no, he speaks softly. "I mean, I want to pick you up myself, but I have a couple of things to do before I go and I don't want us to be late..."
I nod and take a deep breath, "Yeah! That's fine! It's no problem, I'll text you my address to give to him, okay?" I feign excitement.
Jungkook audibly sighs and it's as if I can hear the weight of the world falling off his shoulders. "That's great!" He practically shouts in happiness. "I-I mean, that's cool. Yeah, just text me and I'll give it to him to pick you up."
The way he lowers his voice to make him sound more manly makes me giggle. "Alright. I'll see you later then. Bye!"
"Bye, Sydney!" It's like I can feel his smile through the phone. I should probably put some clothes on... but what to wear?
After I had finally assembled the best outfit I could, I texted Jungkook my address. He said it would be about 20 minutes before his friend would be here, so that gives me time to calm my nerves before I meet a total stranger.
I pick up my phone and dial my sister's number. After a couple rings, she answers. "Hey! Are you free to talk for a minute?""Of course! What's up kiddo?" She speaks in the same kind tone that she always did. "Is there something wrong? You sound nervous?"
I shake my head a little bit, "Nothing's wrong, I just wanted to call you and tell you that I'm going to hang out with a boy and his friends tonight at a festival near here. So if I go missing the festival is where you need to go." I laugh nervously.
"Sydney, don't look at it like that. Is it a date? Be safe. You know how to defend yourself so don't worry so much." She speaks very seriously. "Don't wear too high of a heel so if you need to run, you can."
I take a deep breath. "I know, I know. And I don't think it's a date. Is it? Maybe. I don't know. I guess I'll find out." As soon as I finish speaking, there's a knock at my door. "Oh, he's early. I gotta go, my rides here. I love you and I'll text you when I get back home!"
"Alright, be safe! I love you too." I hang up and grab my bag and sunglasses before opening the door.
Standing before me is a man slightly taller than me with beautiful skin and fluffy brown hair. "Hey, I'm Jungkook's friend. I assume he told you I was picking you up?" He smiles kindly and waits patiently for me to stop staring at him."Y-Yes! Hi, I'm sorry, I just didn't expect you to be here so early." I force an awkward laugh and make sure to lock my door behind me as I walk out of my house.
"Yeah, I'm a little early, I'm sorry about that. I was in the neighborhood already and figured I'd pick you up while I was here."
He starts to walk towards his car. It's beautiful. It's a black SUV with tinted windows that makes the ride feel like you're famous or somebody important. "This is a really nice car.." I say as i marvel at is size and color.
He chuckles and unlocks the car doors for me to be able to hop into the front seat. Since I'm pretty short, i have to actually jump to get in. As I'm struggling, he reaches out his hand and laughs at my attempts. I grab his hand and pull myself up. "Thanks..."
"No problem. I'm Yoongi, by the way." He speaks in a raspy voice and buckles his seatbelt.
'...Yoongi?...' I shake my head slightly and look at him. "Min Yoongi?" I ask in a suspicious tone.
"Uh.. yes? Why?" He glances at me from the driver's side.
I laugh and look at him, bewildered. "I'm Sydney. You messaged me about your pillow yesterday. Small world, huh." I smile wide as he stares at me.
He smiles just as wide as I do and I can see his teeth and gums. He seems genuinely surprised. "Wow... it really is a small world.." his voice trails off as he starts the car and heads towards the festival area.
