Dr. Zoe is a very beautiful woman. She's young, probably in her early thirties. Straight blonde hair that falls down to her shoulders. Her office if large and very conveniently located, only about 8 miles away from the pack house. The waiting room is filled with humans and werewolves alike. She must be an amazing doctor to have so many human patients as well as werewolf. Honestly, I'm shocked there is even such thing as a werewolf doctor. My last pack didn't even have a nurse. The whole office is bright and cheery. Even the individual rooms have bright light blue walls with happy posters regarding health, babies, and anatomy.
One of the nurses leads me into a room and now I'm lying down on a health bench with my shirt raised to right below my breasts. Sienna left me to be with Dr. Zoe and is patiently sitting out in the waiting room. Dr. Zoe is setting up the ultrasound machine.
I tap my fingers on my exposed stomach nervously. Are these 'check ups' supposed to be this nerve wracking? What if something is wrong? What if I somehow hurt the baby? I was doing a lot of activity before I realized I was pregnant.
"So, Lucia," the Doctor interrupts the silence and my nervous thoughts, "how long have you been pregnant?"
Wow, that's a good question.
"To be honest, I have no clue. I didn't find out I was carrying until about a week ago."
"Really?" Dr. Zoe asks. She pulls the ultra sound machine over and closer to me. She wheels her chair next to me and places herself in it quietly. She moves with such grace. She pulls out a liquid gel. "Could I trouble you to move your hands?" She asks.
I notice I'm still tapping my stomach nervously. "Oops, sorry," I admit sheepishly.
"Now how much do you know about werewolf pregnancies?" Dr. Zoe asks me.
I shrug, "Just about as much as I know about human pregnancies, which is not much, if at all anything." she applies the cool gel and I flinch from the cold. "That's chilly!" I remark.
Dr. Zoe giggles, "Yes, yes it is. Since you don't know much I'll fill you in on some important things really quick. Firstly, unlike human pregnancies, werewolf pregnancies are shorter in duration. In between 7 to 8 months." She presses the scanner handle on my stomach, rubbing the cold gel everywhere. "Also, it's important to take vitamins, no drinking, and most importantly, rest."
"Got it... Which vitamins?" I ask as she looks at the monitor.
"I'll prescribe you some so you get all the right ones..." Her voice sounds confused towards the end of her sentence. She's staring at the monitor very intently.
"Is everything okay?" I ask nervously. My heart palpitating in my chest. My biggest fear is coming true, isn't it? I must have done something to the baby.
"Everything is... doubly okay..." She whispers.
"Excuse me?" I ask, confused. "What do you mean by that?"
She turns to look at me. "It's not a common thing... but... Lucia, you're having twins."
I freeze. The air around us goes cold. I don't know what to feel for a moment, then a bunch of emotions come flying into my body at once. My head scrambles around in chaos.
"I'm what!?" I gasp, can I really handle two?
"Yup. Looks like you're having twins. Would you like to know the genders of each baby or would you like to wait? "
"I... I think I'll wait... I need to talk to Greyson about this... I really wasn't expecting to have two... heck I wasn't even expecting to have one."
She giggles. Clearly it's not her first time viewing such shock in a patient. "Very well, I'll mark it in my file but I won't tell you. On another note, each of them are very healthy and their heart beats are strong. You look to be about three months pregnant." She informs me.
