It's been two days since my mate-pairing ceremony. The only ones I've been in contact with are Damien, Milena, and the maids who come into the room every once in a while to clean up.
Damien's been keeping me on lock down. He disguises it by telling me I need to watch Milena and play games with her while Palmer and Trinity are gone on a short trip with the Beta. I don't really care that much because Milena's such a sweet girl, but I've been needing to talk to Greyson.
Unfortunately, Greyson's not the only thing on my mind.
I've been randomly experiencing that torturous pain ever since that night that I blacked out. The only times I for certain never feel it are around eating time, and when Damien is present in the room. Other than that, it happens spontaneously throughout the day but mostly at night.
I toss my hair up into a high ponytail as I stare at myself in Damien's bathroom mirror. Currently I am wearing a t-shirt that covers most of the mark. It's not noticeable unless you are looking for it. I wrap the elastic around my hair three times, to be sure it's secure. I glance at my sleep deprived eyes. They have slight bags under them. The nights are the worst when it come to the pain. I can barely get any sleep.
"Hurry up in there. Everyone's supposed to meet in ten minutes."
I frown at Damien's tone. He's always so bossy and demanding. "I'm almost done." I tell him, having no energy left to fight back with him. All energy I have is being conserved to fight whatever pain I've been experiencing.
I flick off the bathroom light and meet Damien in his room. He stands from the bed. He smirks in satisfaction at my demeanor, which is a bit frightening considering the fact that I look like death has swallowed me whole. It's almost as if he is getting some form of sick pleasure from this. That's never a comfortable thing to notice.
"Let's get going, shall we?" He ask as he offers me his hand.
I huff and turn away from him and walk straight toward the door. I hear him growl lightly under his breath at my disobedient attitude. I lead the way as we head toward the group's meeting spot.
I finally, after two whole days of being alone, get to see my group.
My heart palpates nervously in my chest. The beat is erratic and my hands tremble slightly. I'm excited to see everyone, but nervous about the reaction I will receive. Especially from Greyson. What is he going to say? How is he going to look at me? Will he be angry or disappointed? Both?
My heart drops but my wolf sits in my head, unmoved. She's unsure of what to think. Now, she has been marked. She has been connected spiritually with Damien's wolf. His touch doesn't disgust her anymore, but it still disgusts me. She's more submissive to Damien now, but I'm not. Unlike her, I won't back down because another wolf 'marked' his property. I will not consider myself a territory to be claimed.
Our meeting today is being held in a communal room in the pack house. It's small, but perfect size for the amount of members in the squad. Derek wants to talk to us about some new information on the case. Apparently there is another chance for us to catch Richard. You know, because the last time we were supposed to catch him, I knocked him out cold and we left in a hurry.
As we get to the meeting spot, I open the door wide.
My heart drops a bit in disappointment from the lack of people in attendance.
Derek's head pops up from the sketch pad he has been scribbling on. Ruben glances over at us from a seat that's next to Derek. Raymond is posted on the wall, leaning on it with his back. His head now facing our direction.
