'So, six o'clock, right?'
I pressed send, knowing that I had asked at least three times today.
'Yes, six o'clock. It would be sooner but, practice and all.'
'It's fine, I understand. I sent my address, right?'
                              'Yes, you did'

'Alright, have fun at practice (:'

School had just let out only thirty minutes before. When I told Brittany about the whole incident, she freaked, of course. In the best way possible. So, she also insisted- or forced me into agreeing- for her to help me find something to wear for tonight, hair, makeup, all of that stuff. Which in my opinion, was a little extra for just a movie and an arcade date, but I didn't make the rules here. "Ah! You're going to look so good!" Brittany squealed, going through my closet. "I can't believe that I actually talked to her in the first place." I said, looking at my face in the mirror. Brittany laughed. "You wouldn't have if I didn't offer the extra help." She said, still going through my closet. I rolled my eyes. "Offer? More like-" "Hey! What about this!" She said, throwing an outfit at me, avoiding whatever I was about to say.
It was blue, ripped jeans and a burgundy, cropped band tee. "I'll look like every girl from tumblr, but I guess." I said, putting them aside and applying mascara. I heard her sigh behind me. "You'll be fine, shut up." She said, "Also, make sure that doesn't clump on your lashes. That's not an attractive look." I laughed and continued messing with my makeup, deciding not to put too much on.
"So wait, you want me to wear this outfit and my chucks? Are you trying to bring back my emo phase?" I asked, looking at myself in the mirror. She rolled her eyes. "No, I'm trying to make you seem cute and causal, now shut up you lesbian." She said, adjusting the tee around my waist. "You're so extra, it hurts." I said, "But what time is it?" I asked. "Uh," She paused, looking around for her phone, "Five Forty-Three." I smiled. "Good." I said, sitting on my bed and turning my tv on.
The sound of my ringtone filled my ears.
'Practice is over. I'll shower and head your way.'
I sent a simple okay and locked my phone, turning on Queer Eye just to torture my friend. Of course, it backfired because who doesn't like a show about five fabulous gay men? (An: y'all if you haven't seen queer eye, go on Netflix right and watch it or I'll disown you, thanks)
Eventually, Amber texted me and said that she was here. "Are you going to stay here?" I asked Brittany, her attention on the television. "What?" She said, taking a minute to process what I had said. "Oh, yeah. Is that cool?" "It should be, since it's Friday. My parents won't mind." "Alright, then I'm staying the night and binge watching this show." I laughed and grabbed my purse. "Have fun with that, Brit." I said, opening my door.
"And one last thing." She said, stopping me in my tracks. "Don't be so awkward." I rolled my eyes and closed my bedroom door.
When getting in Amber's car, the scent of pine filled my senses. "How are you?" She asked, watching me put my seatbelt on. "I'm okay." I started, "But have I ever mentioned my theory of Brittany's sanity?" Amber laughed at this. "You haven't, but it sounds interesting." She said, her eyes on the road now. She shifted into drive and sped off. "Tell me about it."
"Okay so, everyone already knows that she's extremely extra, and oh I love her for it." I started, continuing this boring story all the way to the theatre. I must say, Amber is either good at listening or pretending that she is.
"Two tickets for Love Simon please." Amber said, getting a few bills from her pocket, handing them through the window. "Here you are, enjoy your movie," the girl said, her eyes locked on Amber. "Thank you, keep the change." Amber said, looking back at me, grabbing my hand and walking inside.
After the movie, we went to the arcade, and one that I hadn't been to before. It was cute, really. Amber's excitement was obvious, and it was almost like seeing a kid in a candy store. "Look! They have Pac-Man!" Amber said, running off to a game across the room. I laughed and followed.
"I'm going to win it first." I said proudly, referring to some claw machine with stuffed alpacas. "We'll see about that." Amber said from behind me, watching me move the claw carefully. It turns out that I suck at these, but Amber definitely does not. This side of her was cute, and it was different from the side that everyone sees in the halls. Instead of an intimidating senior, she was almost like a child. She won the alpaca of course, but nonetheless, she gave it to me.
And after hours of playing different games, and hours of me getting beat at almost every single one of them, we decided to leave. Well, the arcade decided to close, I should say.
"I had a good time tonight." Amber said, buckling her seatbelt. "I did too, even if you beat me at everything." I replied, sitting the plush in my lap. Amber smiled at this, and backed out of the space, beginning to drive.
"Want to drive around for a while? I know that it's kind of cliche, but my friends aren't really into it and it's lame to do it alone all of the time." She said, looking at the road, waiting for the light to turn green again. "Sure." I said, listening to the faint sound of the radio.
"We definitely should hang out again soon, if that's alright with you." She said, watching me unbuckle my seatbelt. "We should." I said, Amber smiling widely at me. Before I was able to leave the car, Amber leaned over and planted a kiss on my forehead.
"Goodnight, love." She said, my cheeks now getting warm. "Goodnight, Amber." I said, "Text me when you're home." I smiled, exited the car, and watched her drive away.
