short and dumb fluff, don't kill me pls ily like it's four in the morning ok

Amber, my friend, and I sat in my living room, scanning through the mountains of movies my family owned. My parents were out of town for a few days, and since it was fall break, they said I was allowed to have a friend over until they were back.

"BeetleJuice?" Amber said, holding the CD up in front of her face. I shook my head, still looking at the disks in front of me. "I'm more of a Coraline girl, honestly." I said, not being able to find what I was searching for. Amber chuckled, not looking up from her fingers gliding against the sides of the movies in front of us. "Ah!" She said, grabbing two movies with her fingers. "There you are." She said, handing them over to me.

"Pick one of these," Amber said, "They're both kind of Halloween themed because, you know." She said I looked down, debating the two options: The Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorshands. Both mild Halloween movies, but even if I loved them both, The Nightmare Before Christmas had my heart for years now. "This one." I said, handing the movie to her and putting Edward Scissorhands back on the shelf.

I came in the room, a large bowl of popcorn in one hand and two pumpkin spice coffees in the other, carefully sitting them on my nightstand. Amber and I had made a deal- meaning me telling her and just going with it- that she would put on the movie and such if I were the one to get the food and stuff; just as always.

Halfway in the movie though, I felt a stare burning into the side of my face. I grew embarrassed, because I have had a crush on Amber since we were kids, but she never knew that. No one ever did, really. When I felt the gaze shift away, I released a silent breath that I wasn't aware that I was holding.

"Are you cold?" She asked from beside me, her eyes on my arms that were covered in goosebumps that I hadn't noticed. I smiled. "I guess that I am." Amber adjusted the covers to where we were both under the same ones. "Come here." She said, her arms outstretched for me, I gladly taking shelter in them. She pulled me closer to her, her hand entangled in my hair.

"Can I talk to you about something?" She asked, her voice ringing through her chest. "Mhm." I said, probably muffled. She sighed, pulling me a bit closer. "I think that I like someone," She said, pausing, "I think that I like a girl." "What's wrong with that?" I asked, pulling away from her a bit so I could see her face. She sighed. "I don't think that she'll like me back." "Don't think that way Amber, you're such an amazing person. Anyone would be crazy to not be crazy for you." I said, laying back on her chest.

Her soft laugh vibrated against my face.

"That sounds good coming from you." She said. I smiled and pulled her closer.

"And why is that?" I asked, not sure if it was audible enough for her to hear.

"Because you're the girl, stupid." She said, changing positions and now laying on top of me. My breath suddenly got caught in my throat. "And I know it's kind of silly," she began, "We're such close friends, but you've always been very special to me. I'm just now coming into terms with it, and with myself." She smiled, shaking her head. "I guess that I'm trying to say I like you as more than a friend, and that you're very, very important to me." She said, a slight red painted on her cheeks. "I know that you probably don't feel the same, but-"

I cut her off quickly, placing my thumb on her chin and making her look me in the eyes. I smiled softly.

My hand made its way to her cheek, pulled her closer to me, and stopped right before our lips were about to touch.

"You don't know how long I've been waiting to hear that."

She quickly closed the gap in between us, smiling into the kiss every now and then.

That was the start to something wonderful.
