My close friend, Amber, had decided that we needed to hang out more often and had planned this day a week ago.
She came and picked me up around eight in the evening, wearing casual clothes indicating that we weren't going anywhere too exclusive. Which, I was perfectly okay with because I hadn't dressed appropriately for that.
"So, where are we going?" I asked, closing the car door behind me. She pulled out a single rose and handed it to me. "I told you, it's a surprise." She said, ruffling my hair. I groaned. "Amber, come on! I hate surprises." I said, sulking. She laughed. "Any other time I would tell you, but not tonight." She said, putting her arm behind my seat to see better when backing up. (As you know, it's how to get girls numbers. Have any of you guys seen that video? It's great)
I reached for her radio and clicked it on. Soft alternative music began playing immediately. It was music that I wasn't very familiar with, but not because I didn't like it, simply because I just didn't favor it.
We drove for about thirty minutes until I realized the city lights were fading and we were surrounded by trees and darkness. The stars seemed brighter wherever we were. I had assumed we were heading up the small mountain we had located in the outskirts of our town.
After about ten more minutes, the car finally came to a stop. We were in the middle of what seemed like nowhere. "It's beautiful out here, huh?" Amber asked, catching my attention away from the trees. I looked at her, my eyes still wide from amazement. She chuckled and turned off the car. She got out of the car and before I could open my door, she had rushed to my side to open it for me. "Cheesy." I said, smiling and getting out. "I try to be." She said, walking towards the trunk of her black car.
She pulled out a few quilts and a small box. She closed the trunk and headed to another direction. "You coming?" She asked. I nodded and walked behind her.
She lead me to a nook of trees beside the lakeside. She spread the blankets down and motioned for me to sit. She had already somehow got away with setting up dim lanterns in the sand mixed with clay on the shore.
I laid down on my back, appreciating the sight above us. Amber laid on her side, her gaze on the stars as well. "This is stunning." I said. "Yeah, but my view is better," She said, her eyes on me. My eyes locked with hers and I blushed.
"I have something that I need to confess to you. It's important." Amber said, fiddling with the zipper on her jacket. "Yes Amber? You can tell me anything." I said, focusing my eyes on her once more. "It's that.. umm.." She said, stuttering. "Let it out Amber. I won't judge you." I said comforting her. "Well I.. I like you. Like, like-like you, a lot." She said quickly. I was taken aback at her words. My heart filled with warmth and my stomach with butterflies.
I scotched closer to her and cupped her face in my palms. I leaned in slowly, her facial expression reading that she was shocked. When our lips were only centimeters apart, she pushed me away softly. "I-I can't.. I'm sorry." She said, looking down. I frowned at this. "Why not?" I asked. She looked into my eyes with a hungered look, "Because if I kiss you, I don't think that I'll be able to stop." She said.
With this, I slammed my lips onto hers. In between kisses, I said onto her lips, "I don't want you to."
