Chapter 13~ Love at First Sight

Ammon: Hello? Tammy?

He sounded relieved.

Me: Hey yeah, its me. Look, I've got to tell you something

The other line was quiet. I took that as my cue to continue.

I'm sorry I ran off yesterday with out an explanation. I guess I just got over whelmed by everything that had happened yesterday. Everything you said and the day I spent with Brady-

Ammon: oh I get it

Ammon said cutting me off. I realized what I said after it was to late.

Me: Ammon I- I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to say it like that, I should have thought before saying anything about him.

Ammon: That's why you left. You like Brady and I just ruined it. I should have never said anything, I mean you were there on a date with him, right? Who did I think I was stepping in like that.

Me: No, Ammon listen please. I'm so so glad that you said what you did. It meant the world to me. I was just over whelmed by having you and Brady come into my life all of the sudden. One boy has never called me beautiful, let alone two in the same night.

I feel a tear leak down my cheek. I hadn't even noticed I was crying until now. I stifle a sob and continue.

Me: Now it's my turn to apologize. I got scared. My feelings over whelmed me and I needed to clear my head. I'm sorry...

The last part comes out as a whisper.

After a moment he answers.

Ammon: ok.  *Pause* Please don't cry. 

I forgive you. I couldn't stay mad at you if I wanted. I know we've only known each other for a few days now--

Me: Correction, you've known me for a few days

I say with a laugh, cutting him off.

Ammon: Right.. Haha I guess that's true! But I mean, ever since the school I haven't be able to get my mind off of you. When you hugged me, I felt all tingly inside..

My heart felt warm and my stomach was full of butterflies. His laugh was perfect. Just like in I Think I'm in Love.... I couldn't imagine making any one feel that way. And the fact that Ammon made me feel that way in return.

Ammon: Do you believe in love at first sight?

I didn't answer

Ammon: I do

He says in a whisper.

Ammon: I uh, I have to go now. Thank you for calling and talking to me, it means the world. Please text me?

Me: okay. Thank you as well, I'll text you. Good bye

That's all I get out. Did I hear him right? Love at first sight? He's kidding.

Ammon: Bye Tammy, I love you

I think I hear him say as I push end on the call. Great what have I gotten myself into? My phone buzzed and I got a text from Brady asking if I could meet up at the beach. I replied and said after the game. Putting my phone in my pocket I walked over and sat by my mom. "Hey can I go hang out at the beach again today?" I turn and ask her. "Sure sweetie, is that who you were on the phone with?" " yeah ..... That's who." I say turning away. Every time I talked to Ammon I became more confused.

After the game I went and met up with Brady by the same volleyball court as last time. Just like he said he was waiting there for me, but with a picnic basket and a picnic all set up. "What's this?" I ask the obvious with a huge grin on my face. "Well I thought maybe we could grab some lunch.  I've got all sorts of food in here made by yours truly, I hope you like it" He said gesturing to all of the food laid out before us. "Wow this is really sweet of you." I said, leaning over and giving him a kiss on the cheek. "I can't believe it. This kid can cook too?" I think as he helps dish something onto my plate that looks amazing. "Everything here looks so good, what is this?" I say, taking my plate from him. "It's Chow Mein but Hawaiian Style." He says with a grin. "It's my own specialty".  That was only one of the dishes he brought.

We ate and the talked, then it dawned on me that he said the other guys were going to be here too. "Hey Brady, I thought you said that your friends were going to be here too?" I question him. "Oh, they're coming later, I wanted to have a nice picnic with just us first." "It has most definitely been nice." I say giving him a smile. We lock eyes, and I feel all bubbly inside. Glancing down at my lips and then back at my eyes, I feel Brady leaning towards me. "Oh. This is happening." Right when our lips were about to touch, a volleyball lands in the macaroni salad, splashing it on both of us. "Hey dude! You didn't tell us that you prepared lunch! I wouldn't have ate!" said his friend Steve as he came and retrieved his ball. "That's because I didn't. You guys weren't supposed to come for another half an hour!" I can tell Brady is frustrated that our moment was ruined, as his other friend Nick jogs over to us. "Sorry bro, we just couldn't wait!"

I cleaned the macaroni off of me as Brady did himself. Just then Ammon came into my mind. "Hey Brady, is Ammon coming?" I ask. He did ask me last night if I was coming last night, so I assumed that meant he would be here. "No, he uh, said he wouldn't make it about an hour before you came." An hour before I came. That's when had gotten done talking. I quickly pull out my phone and send him a text. Beach? I put my phone in my pocket that way I can see his response immediately. Suddenly I was being dragged out to the volleyball court by Brady. He put his arm around me saying  "Let's go play, we'll finish our moment later" with a wink, making me blush. 

I checked my phone one more time before putting it down on my towel. No reply. "That's okay, maybe he really did have something come up. I'm just over thinking it again. He'll reply when he can or show up." I tell myself, trying to over come the thought that I was the reason he wasn't here. I went over and joined the game. Me and Brady against Steve and Nick.

When it began to get dark, Brady called the game. We cleaned up the food and said good bye to the other guys. Standing up, Brady reached for my hand. "Come here, I want to show you something." I took his hand as he lead me to a tree behind the ShnowCone Shack. With his help, we climbed up and sat on the shack. "Are we going to get in trouble?" "No, its fine. My family owns this shack haha" he says with a laugh. "But look." he said, pointing out over the ocean. The sun was setting, and it was the most beautiful sight that I have ever seen. "Wow" I say, being lost for words. "It's beautiful". "You're beautiful." He replied. I turned to look at him. The glow from the sunset made his olive skin glisten. "I had a really great time tonight, Tammy." he says his eyes moving from mine to my lips and back in one swift motion. "So did I, Brady." He leaned in, and now being undisturbed he kissed me.

After he pulled away, I smile and glanced over his shoulder to see a figure standing by the tables. Holy Crowe. It was Ammon. And I was positive that he just saw the whole thing. Just as I suspected the figure turned and walked to his car, driving off. I wanted so bad to run after him, and explain what had happened. But he knew what had happened. I was here kissing Brady, alone. There was nothing to explain.
