Chapter 17~ Awkward Confrontations

Walking towards the pavilion with Ammon following me, a small person was suddenly hugging onto my legs. "Shani let go" Ammon said, pulling her from me. "No, it's okay Ammon, I've always wanted to meet her." I said picking her up and giving her a hug. Her little arms latched around my neck. "You're more beautifuler than Ammon told me" she said, nuzzling her face into my neck. Making me blush, I give her a tight squeeze and say thanks before putting her down. As soon as her feet touched the cement she jumped into Ammons arms. "He is so adorable with her" I thought to myself. we headed over to where more of his family was. The "friend" part of the group wasn't going to show up until 7.

Introducing me to his mom and dad; I could tell Ammon was being hesitant. I couldn't blame him, it was a little awkward being introduced to his parents as a "girl he met through Brady". "That stung a bit" I thought "Although I don't know why it did. Ammon and I was as much of something as me and Brady were." I cut myself off this time, not wanting to be rude as Ammon's mom pulled me into a hug. "We've heard so much about you this week Tammy" she whispered so only I could hear. "Thank you".

After she pulled away the only thing I could think of was why she was thanking me. I brushed off the thought as Ammon's brother Jake came over to us and shook my hand. "I'd hug you but I think that would be awkward for all of us" he said with a wink. I blushed, nodding my head agreeing with him. "Hey lets go sit down" Ammon said, leading the way to a far table. "So, why did you want me to come early? And I'm sorry that I didn't get here at 6:30, I fell asleep. I don't even remember falling asleep." I rambled off ashamed. "Hey" Ammon said, lifting my chin up so I was looking at him. "Don't worry about it. I'm just glad you could come a little early still." he smiled sweetly. I removed his hand from my face and took it in my own. "Speaking of that, why did you want me to come early? And thanks for understanding, you're a great friend." Shoot. Did I just say that? The look in Ammon's eyes tell me what I didn't want to confirm. "Well I'm glad I can be a great friend, Tammy." Ammon said, taking his hand out of mine. "Ammon wait. You know that's not what I meant." I said on the verge of tears. He stood up and started to walk away, before turning around. "I just wanted to spend time with you Tammy. That's why I asked you to come early." With that he left me sitting at the table as he went to greet the guests that were starting to arrive.

"Well, this is just great." I said, standing up and walking to the bathroom. I didn't want anyone to see me cry.

*Ammons Point of View*

I turned around to see Tammy walking away wiping her eyes. "Perfect" I thought. "I've messed up once again." I wanted to run after her so bad, but I needed space just as much as she did now. I didn't want to lash out at her again, so I decided to go talk to my friends who had just showed up. "I'll just say hi to them, and then go find Tammy."

"Hey brah! What's happening?" Steve yelled giving me hug. "Happy birthday dude!" I say thanks and greet Nick next. "Where's Brady?" I asked after talking for a bit. "Oh, he'll be here in a bit" Nick answered, almost like he was hiding something. "Alright" I say leaving them as more people showed up. 

Soon enough everyone was here and Tammy hadn't returned. I checked the parking lot to make sure her car was still there. It was, so I wandered the direction she walked off in. "Who knows where she went" I said out loud. Looking around I find her, but just my luck someone else had found her first. "Brady" I say to myself. "Of course he would find her before me." Maybe he's been here the whole time and that's why he hadn't showed up at the pavilion yet. I feel the jealousy building up inside of me. I just wanted to go over there and take her from his arms. I am so angry at my self right now. "Why do you mess up every good thing that happens to you." I say out loud before cooling myself and walking over to where Tammy and Brady were sitting. "Hey you two".

*Brady's Point of View*

"It's almost 7 man, we're gonna be late!" Steve was yelling from the back seat. Like always, I was the driver. We were headed to Ammon's birthday party at the beach. "Blame Nick, he took the longest to get ready" I reply. "Yeah Yeah whatever, we're fine." Nick said in defense. I was a little nervous to go, I figured Tammy was going to be there, and we hadn't talked much since we kissed. Pulling into the parking lot I see a figure walking from the pavilion. I took a closer look and it was Tammy. "She's probably just going to the bathroom or something." I think. We get out of the car and Steve and Nick begin to walk towards the pavilion. Stopping in my tracks I realized that Tammy had climbed onto the ShnowCone Shack, just like we were when we kissed. "Hey guys, I'll uh, catch up to you!" I called out. Nick turned around and nodded and continued.

I picked up my pace and headed over to Tammy. Standing at the base of the tree I looked up. She hadn't seen me yet, but I saw that she was crying. "Hey star fish" I said sheepishly, making her jump a bit. Saying "Hi" back, she quickly wiped her eyes and began to climb down the tree. Losing her footing, she started to fall but I caught her. "Well, that couldn't have been any more cheesy." She said with a laugh as I helped her to her feet. Gosh she was so beautiful, even with puffy red eyes. I pulled her close, asking her what was wrong. She didn't answer for a couple minutes, but I didn't care. I was just happy to have her close.

"Brady I need to tell you something" she finally said, looking up at me. "Okay, I'm all ears." I said motioning for us to sit down. We sat down against the building, and hesitantly I put my arm around her. She didn't move away but she didn't move closer either. "This is fine" I thought. "I don't want to be to pushy." Looking me in the eyes, I could see confusion in hers. "Ammon and I kissed the same night that we kissed, Brady." My jaw dropped. "W-what" I stuttered out. "After you dropped me off, Ammon had come over to the hotel. We talked a bit and then one thing lead to another and yeah..." she trailed off. "I honestly don't know what to say Tammy." I replied after a thought. "I know I messed up" she choked out with a sob. Wiping away the tears running down her face I was about to answer when I got cut off. "Hey you two" I hear, looking up at Ammon.

 *Tammy's Point of View*

"Hey you two"

Standing up quickly I move away from Brady. Ammon had once again found me and Brady with each other. "Tonight keeps getting better and better." I say to my self. Brady stood up and started walking towards Ammon. "How could you kiss her?" he yelled. "You knew I liked her, and you went behind my back and kissed her man! I thought we were best friends!" Getting closer to Ammon I began to worry. Ammon however, didn't even flinch. I quickly walked over and tried to get between them, but Ammon stopped me. "Tammy stop. Please just go back to the pavilion. Me and Brady need to talk some things out." Looking at me with sad eyes, I knew I had hurt him again. "Please don't fight" I whisper, staying where I was.

"Hey we aren't going to fight, just please go back to the pavilion?" Brady said, turning me to face him.  "This is just like my dream" I think. "They were fighting over me."  A tear leaked down my face as they both begged me to leave. "This is how it should be, I shouldn't even have come." I think. "Promise me you're still going to be friends." I said as I ran to my car.

I got in, but didn't drive away. I just couldn't go back to Ammon's family and friends crying. "Gosh why is it I always end up crying?" I say out loud to myself. I lean my head back and close my eyes.

SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY :'( I know I said I'd be updating like a week ago but then something came up and I've been dealing with health issues all week. But thank you all so so much for over 800 reads! Ohh my myler I don't even know how but you guys are amazing!! Vacation is coming to a close, but that doesn't mean the story is over! Love all of you guys so much!!
