We arrived at the park and got ready for sound check. I couldn’t get my mind off of what Tammy told me, disrupting my focus. The other boys noticed, I could tell, but none of them wanted to confront me about it. Finally Tyler our manager said something. He pulled me aside from the rest of the group, making a scene. “Ammon what the heck is wrong. Your dancing is out of sync and you’re hitting the wrong notes. Are you sick? Should we be worried? Are you going to be able to perform?” I rolled my eyes. “Of course I’ll be able to perform, I did on a broken leg, remember? I just got some bad news from back home right before we came.” “Well snap out of it. You can worry about it after the festival.” With that he stormed off. I just sat there, trying to keep cool. “Of course he would act like that." I think "He doesn’t understand. If David does anything to Tammy, if Brady lets him do anything to her, I could never forgive myself.”
Just then Zac came over, interrupting my thoughts. “Hey man, I don’t know what happened with Tammy, but I’m sorry,um, you seem to be really upsetabout it. But we need you man.” “Yeah! I mean we wouldn’t be Beyond Five without you!” Tanner added. I hadn’t even realized that the rest of the boys had joined us. “Please bro? We’ll help you deal with it after.” TJ said, peeking out from behind the rest. I looked up at them. These four boys have become my best friends, my brothers. I wouldn’t trade any of them for anything. I needed them as much as they needed me. “Okay” I said standing up. “Let’s do this.”
We finished the sound check, and a crowd had already started to form. Other performers went on before us, and we waited back stage. I checked my phone, and I had a missed call and a text from Nick, and a text from Tammy. “Crap” I thought “They are all from over an hour ago. I hope it wasn’t anything serious.” I opened the texts and read them.
Tammy: I wish I was back in Utah with you! This fourth of July would have been 100 times better if I was at the concert. Good luck again, but like you need it ;)<3
Nick: Hey so we ran into David and them today with Brady. They seemed to take a liking to Tammy. Nothing happened, but I just thought that I would just warn you. Have you talked to her today? I would if I were you. Good luck bro, see ya tomorrow.
I texted both of them back just before we had to go on.
To Tammy: I wish you were here. But if you think about it if you were here then you wouldn’t be in California and we wouldn’t have met<3 but I’ll see you tomorrow! I gotta go, we are performing and minute now.
To Nick: Yeah.. I talked to her. You scared the crap out of me, I thought something had happened. But thanks man! Thanks for looking out for her for me. I don’t know if I could take it if they did anything to her ya know? See you tomorrow!
“Ammon lets go!” Patch yelled right as I hit send. “Yeah I’m coming.” I called back as the music to Best Days started to play.
We sang some of our usual concert songs, but also sang a few covers as well. Once we started, I forgot all about what I was worrying about and enjoyed the fans that were here for me. Their energy fed mine. Patch forgot a couple dance moves and lyrics, giving us a laugh. When we started to sing our cover of Daylight by Maroon 5 I choked up a little. Remembering that I really only had a little more time left with Tammy, I realized that I shouldn’t waste it. I needed to forget about the drama and just be happy with my time with her.
After the concert we took pictures and talked to all the beyonders, the usual. I was so distracted by the thought of Tammy again, I fell for trick where a fan- Maggie- tapped me on the opposite shoulder of where she was. Zac must have seen that because he pulled me aside. "Hey dude, you okay? You would have never fallen for a trick like that! I thought we decided to deal with everything later?" I sighed. "Yeah I'm fine. I realized some things, and just slipped up again. But I'll be okay, I just miss her." Zac gave me a look then walked off to take a selfie.
Pretty soon Tyler was shooing our fans away. I hadn't even noticed how late it had gotten, and for once I was grateful. I just wanted to get on the plane and head back to California with the boys. I wanted them to meet Tammy, but not as much as I just wanted to see her and hold her in my arms. I nonchalantly followed the guys into Patches car as he drove to the airport. They were all loud and talking, still feeding off the post-concert buzz we all get, but I didn't have it in me. I leaned my head against the window and soon fell asleep.
YOU GUYS. I'm so so so sorry, this is such a crappy filler chapter ugh. College life is a little hectic, and I hope it gets easier xD jk I know it will I just have a lot to get use to haha. But okay. No promises on when I'll update again, it may be later today or tomorrow or saturday or idk. But I haven't forgotten about you guys! Almost 2k reads I seriously can not believe it at all. I love all of you!!
