Chapter Twenty Nine

The nerves began to kick in when Cody and I were separated. I wasn’t going on the stage until ‘my’ part and I couldn’t very well keep my eyes focused on Cody when I couldn’t see him.

‘Unfortunately, Becky couldn’t make it today, so welcome today’s special guest… my beautiful and amazing girlfriend Hannah!’

‘Okay, go get them kid.’ Matt said and I walked onto the stage. The screaming was the first thing that hit me and I’m pretty sure it did some damage to my ear drums.

‘Can’t wait till you come back home, I know it’s late holding you by the phone, it’s so hard getting by all alone so call me back leave a message at the tone, I know, you know, I know we can make it by, it’s been too long since I looked in to your eyes! Yeah, I’m waiting, so hurry back, bring the shine boy, you better follow path, car, bus, train, go and get a cab, or just fly here, jet pack! Roger that, do you copy? I was a puzzle piece, but you solved me. Our future, I see it so clear and right now…’

I breathed a sigh of relief as I finished and Cody took over. Not once during the time did I take my eyes off of him and I kept them locked on him until the song finished. He was definitely true to his word on guiding me through it, it felt like we were in the practise room all over again, just with a bit of added background noise. The music stopped and Cody picked me up.

‘Woo! How good was she?’ He said as he held me proudly above his head. The screams were deafening. He put me down and I hugged him.

‘Wow! That was insane!’ I said, well and truly speechless.

‘You were amazing babe, I’m so proud of you!’ Cody said out of range of the microphone and he kissed my cheek. I bid Cody good luck for the rest of the show, hugged him, thanked the crowd and waved before running off the stage.

When I got backstage, I got a huge hug from Matt, Alli and Mel all at once.

‘Who knew you had a voice on you!’ Brad laughed as he high fived me. I laughed and spent the next half an hour getting different praises from the crew.

‘You were so incredible Han!’ Mel said when things had finally settled down and we were sat back in the rehearsal room.

‘Yeah, it looked like you’d been doing it for years!’ Alli added in and I hugged them both.

‘It did feel amazing! I can see how Cody gets a kick from it!’ I said. It was probably the first fully formed sentence I’d said since coming off stage. My adrenaline levels were through the roof and I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight. It got to the end of the show and I heard people congratulating Cody so I ran out of the room to see him. He held out his arms and I jumped into them, literally, and wrapped my arms around him.

‘You were amazing!’ I said.

‘Me? Did you hear yourself, you killed it beautiful!’ He replied and I kissed his forehead.

‘I’m proud of you.’ I said, resting my forehead on his and he smiled.

‘Love you.’

‘Love you more!’

‘Not possible!’ He replied and he put me down before taking my hand. He squeezed it and we walked to the rehearsal room.

‘Do you guys want to stay on the bus tonight with us? There are two extra bunks if you do!’ Alli asked and I looked at Mel. I knew the answer before I even looked at her though and she started viciously nodding her head.

‘Oh my goodness yes! Thank you!’ She said and we laughed. It was 9 pm and we walked over to the orange ‘Crush’ bus and climbed in. We were all to pumped to sleep so we went to a room at the back of the bus and sat on the seats.

‘This is our little hangout place!’ Alli said and she gestured around the room. There was a games console and TV and a few of Cody’s guitars. I rested on Cody’s shoulder as he picked up one of his guitars.

‘Is it weird that we’ve been dating for nearly a year and I don’t yet know your favourite song?’ Cody said and I let out a small laugh.

‘I don’t know if you will have heard of it but it’s called ‘In Your Atmosphere’ by…’

‘John Mayer!’ Cody finished and I smiled.

‘Yeah! So you’ve heard it?’ I asked and with that he started to play it on his guitar.

‘I don’t think I want to go to LA anymore.’ He sang.

‘I don’t think I want to go to LA anymooore!’ I echoed. He looked at me and smiled.

‘You really do have a beautiful voice!’ He said whilst playing quietly.

‘Well, yours is the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard!’ I replied and he leant across and kissed me. I heard Alli and Mel ‘aww’ in the background and I giggled.

Mel’s phone rang and she answered it.

‘Okay, I’ll be there in a few!’ She said.

‘That was my mum, my brother fell down the stairs and broke his arm, she needs me to look after Caitlyn.’ She said.

‘Oh, do you want me to walk you home?’ I asked.

‘No, it’s okay, my mum’s parked round the corner! I’ll see you tomorrow!’ She said and I gave her a quick hug.

‘Bye!’ Cody and Alli said and she walked out.

‘Can you ask her now?!’ Alli beamed.

‘Ask me what?’ I said, looking at Cody.

‘Well, I didn’t want to say anything whilst Mel was here, but how would you feel about joining us on tour again?’
