I stood there in a little bit of a stunned silence. It was almost as if my ability to complete any actions had been cut off. I just started talking, without really knowing what I was saying, my mouth just carried on.
‘I… I… I do. I do like you back.’ I said, more involuntarily than anything.
I saw Cody’s face light up and he smiled. A smile that I’d never seen before, it was quite beautiful.
‘Really, you mean that?’ He said, standing up.
I nodded. I did, I really did mean it. I surprised myself by how much I did mean it.
He leant forward and hugged me, and laughed. I smiled.
A really big smile.
He pulled back and ran his fingers through his hair, still smiling.
‘I’m so happy!’ He said, before falling down in the sand.
Aww. Well, aww with added awkwardness.
‘Me too.’ I said, before falling down next to him.
We sat by the sea for what felt like hours. It felt like nobody else was there, just us. I only realised that we weren’t alone when I noticed Alli walking Buddy behind us, looking innocent.
‘Spotted.’ Cody yelled at Alli when I pointed her out to him.
‘Drat.’ She sighed.
She walked over to us and Buddy followed her. Except he didn’t stop at us, he carried on into the water, making us laugh. He got to the point where his paws were just about covered, when a huge wave came over and scared him. He ran to Cody quivering and yelping.
‘Is it okay for me to say this time?’ Alli laughed.
‘You don’t need to!’ Cody said, slipping his arm around my neck. I leant in close and rested on his shoulder.
‘Aww, I’m glad, sorry I kind of ruined it.’ She laughed, awkwardly.
‘I wouldn’t have said anything if you hadn’t done that.’ Cody smiled.
‘How many people actually knew?’ I laughed.
‘EVERYBODY.’ Alli shouted, louder than I think she meant to. She sort of rose from where she was sat when she shouted it so slyly sat back in her seat, smirking.
She’s funny.
‘Really?’
‘Yeah, everybody kind of knew. I was surprised you didn’t find out from somebody else, well…’ He smirked.
‘I’m sorrrrrrrrrry!’ Alli giggled, sifting sand with her hands.
I laughed. The sun was shining and it was so warm, makes a difference from the rain and overcast England. Life felt pretty good right now. It’s not every day that you get a part in a movie, live in a glorious place and have a boyfriend who clearly cares about you.
‘Are you on the set tomorrow?’ Alli asked me.
‘I think I’m there for the morning, how about you?’ I replied.
‘All day I think, I was just wondering if you wanted to come to the mall afterwards, I need some new clothes!’ Alli laughed.
‘Sure, I’ll do some schoolwork in the dressing room for the afternoon.’ I smiled.
‘Cody, you coming?’ Alli asked Cody.
‘Yeah sure.’ He said, fiddling with his hair.
We stayed at the beach for about another hour, before finally heading back to their house.
