After I sit on the couch for fifteen more minutes, Amber comes and finds me. She tells me that she has to go, but that Francine says that my shift ends at five. A girl named Wendy should be here around then to take over for the dinner rush, so I only have about forty-five minutes until my training/first shift is officially over.

"Thanks so much for today," I tell her as she leaves. "I really appreciate it."

Amber grins widely. "It really was no problem. You're so much more organized with it than I am. See you tomorrow!"

Not too many people come in, but when they do, it's not too cumbersome. Ask how many, find a free table, make sure it's clean, and bring them over there. All that's left is the menus, and then whoever's table that is takes care of the rest.

"Luna?" A petite woman is standing in front of the podium. Her big blue eyes are staring right at me, and my first thought is that she's so adorable.

"Just Teresa," I say. "You must be Wendy?"

Wendy nods. "Yeah, I'm Wendy. You're free to go if you want."

I smile at her. "Thanks. I'll see you around."

Moving out from behind the podium, I take a quick look outside. The clouds seem as though they're about to burst, and I don't want to be caught in that storm when they do. Looking around, I know that I could probably ask Shane for a ride. He seems pretty nice, and he's human - it's not like he could do me any harm. Walking over to him, I slide across the bar and smile at him.

"What's up?" he asks me, smoothing his hair back. Lightning flashes through the windows of Francine's, thunder following only a second later. Rain crashes against the roof suddenly, startling me.

"My m- er, boyfriend, dropped me off today," I tell him, nearly slipping up. "I thought I could just walk back, but now it's raining cats and dogs, so do you think you could drop me back at my house?"

He chuckles. "Yeah, of course. As soon as I'm done cleaning these counters, we can go."

I hop down off the counter, landing gracefully on my feet. "Thanks. I'll wait here, I guess."

He nods in response. As he walks around the bar with a cloth, I make my way toward the door to wait for him. He appears two minutes later with his stuff, and we quickly make our way toward his old Chevy pickup truck. Rain soaks me through, and I squeal as the cold touches my skin.

Sliding into the front seat, I wait for him to start the car. He turns on the radio automatically, and we listen to some music while he drives carefully down the road to avoid an accident. I direct him to the neighborhood I've been calling home for the past few months, and eventually, the huge pack house is in front of us.

Shane pulls to a slow stop, looking through the window at my giant home.

"Woah," he exclaims. "Your house is huge!"
