I'm still feeling great the next morning, even though I've barely slept all night - I was just too wired. They've called me into the psychiatrist's office to talk about my "episode" and I'm forced to come.

My shrink is a woman, a werewolf looking to be in her mid-thirties. She looks tired and is sipping a cup of coffee when I bounce into the room, throwing myself into the small armchair.

"Hello," she greets me. "Teresa, right?"

"That's me," I say. "You're Dr. Aliyeva, right? Are you Russian? I wonder if it's cold there. I love it when it gets cold in Colorado, because that means my birthday is coming up. I'm going to be twenty, can you believe it?"

"You can call me Irina, if you prefer, but yes, I am Dr. Aliyeva," she replies. "How long have you been feeling so great?"

"Monday was the start of my awesomeness," I say. "It's been like, five days. I remember when Fridays used to be cool, but now they're bo-ring. Cause I'm stuck in this place."

"I'm sorry about that," she says.

"It's not your fault," I say. "It's mine. Do you think I'm crazy? Is that why you called me in? I'm crazy because I killed someone. It was my sister, but don't tell anyone. I only did it because she was all over my mate. But we're separated right now. I don't know why he was there yesterday. I didn't need him to come save me."

"Why didn't you need him to come save you?"

I shrug. "I wasn't going to jump. And I know I need to talk it out with him, but I don't know how I feel about him anymore. He has fucked me up."

"How so?"

"He hit me," I say. "And I saw him with my sister. That's why she's dead."

"He hit you?"

"Yeah, I just said that," I snap. "Are you deaf? Maybe you should try another career besides being a shrink if you can't even understand what I'm saying."

"I can understand what you're saying, thank you," Irina replies coolly. "I was just clarifying."

"So why am I here again?" I ask, irritated with the situation.

"Teresa," Irina says calmly. "At first we all thought you were just severely depressed. But after the way you've been acting this week, I think it's clear that you're suffering from something else."

"Am I crazy?" I ask. She shakes her head no. "Then what is wrong with me now?"

"I think you're suffering from manic depressive disorder," Irina says. "Or, as it's more commonly known these days, bipolar disorder. I also believe you're suffering from type one."
