The next week brings more visits with Irina. Therapy. Lots of talking and talking about my sister and my mother and Zack. My dad even comes to one of them, which he leaves with greater understanding and finally having closure with what really happened that night. Different combinations of medicines - because that shouldn't have happened. I shouldn't have had what I now realized was an depressive episode - the medicine should have worked. But it doesn't always work, Irina told me first thing. It doesn't always work, and this is to be expected.

But now things are different again. Amber has moved out of her apartment and now lives with Adrian in his house, along with Parker. She's still very independent, as per her wishes - she drives herself to and from work, spends hours working on her sketches and on the phone with clients, and even finds the time to cook the three of them dinner every night. We talk on the phone while she cooks for Adrian and Parker while I make dinner for Tatiana and I. Seven o'clock on the dot until the food is ready, at least twice a week.

Bianca ended up letting her younger sister stay with me, and she calls me every Sunday to check how things are going. I was surprised it happened, but I was excited, and so was Tatiana. We could finally find our way back to normal, together.

All my stuff from my parents' house, Amber's apartment, and the pack house is officially here in the house with me. Tatiana's stuff is here too, and when we officially took over and moved in, Zack and Adrian helped move Amber's bed and furniture set into the room right next to the master one so she wouldn't have to sleep two floors below me at night. Plus, the stuff was going into storage anyways.

And so far, it's been fun. She catches the bus in the mornings to school, but I pick her up and bring her to her appointments with Irina every Saturday. We talk about any and everything, train together - she's even teaching me a little Italian.

So for the most part, my life is okay right now.

It's a bright Thursday when I decide to roll out of bed, and a quick peek at the alarm clock tells me that it's already twelve thirty. Yikes - it's late. I shouldn't have stayed up so late reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

After walking downstairs and eating a quick bagel, I decide to give Quinn a call. She should be up; it's eleven thirty in California.

The phone rings three time before she picks up, sounding like she's in a rush. "Hello?"

"Hey, Quinn," I reply. "It's me. Teresa."

"Hey, Reese! We haven't talked in too long," she says. The sounds of the city are loud around her, mostly with the honking of cars and general noises of people. "What's up? You called me at a good time, I'm on my way to meet Jacob.."

"Jacob? Who's that?" I ask, curling the telephone wire around my finger like I always do.

"Oh, I forgot - we haven't talked since the your birthday, really! I met him on the trolley going to New Year's at my friend Jane's place, and he's amazing," she gushes. I can practically hear her smiling on the other side of the phone. "And he's my mate - it was so lucky for us to meet, he's really nice and he's Alpha Bernard's son. I've seen him twice a week since then, and we talk on the phone for hours. I feel like I've known him my entire life."
