Hey y'all! Hope you enjoyed last chapter. This one's a mega-filler, because next chapter is where things really get going for this story. Crazy to think that in RA, this is almost the length of the full story -- I don't know when I'm going to end this one, there's so much I want to pack into all of it :)
I'm working on some new story ideas as well, I'm thinking of doing a Shadowhunter fanfiction...
Anyways, I totally reccomend reading the Gone series by Michael Grant. It reminds me of of a modern Lord of the Flies, only with superpowers. It's six books long - Gone, Hunger, Lies, Plague, Fear, Light - and I totally fell in love with it. It's up there on my favorite book series, that's for sure!
Super excited because tomorrow is my homecoming dance and tonight we won our first game in over 2 years!! 54-37 :)))
Enjoy the chapter! Please try and comment if you liked it, nobody does it anymore :(
xoxo,
Morgan

The first thing that hits me as Zack and I walk inside is the smell of all the food. Turkey, rice, stuffing, gravy, vegetables, potatoes – you name it, it's there. The second thing that hits me, quite literally, is a small girl who looks like she can't be older than seven. She grins a toothless smile at me before sprinting away from a little boy who looks to be the same age as her. He skirts around my legs this time, chasing after his friend.
“My cousins,” Zack says as an explanation. I nod and link my fingers through his as he leads the way to the kitchen, where his mom is standing at the table, drinking a glass of wine as she laughs at something a familiar woman has said to her.
“Mom!” I exclaim, grinning wildly as I throw myself at her. She laughs as she hugs me back, brushing her lips against my temple as a way of greeting. “What are you doing here?”
“Surprise,” she says, smiling back. Familiar blue eyes twinkle as she tucks a loose hair behind my ear. “I see you straightened your hair.”
“Yeah,” I reply, taking a second to look at her. Her normally fair skin is tanned, and her black hair, wildly curly like mine, has gotten at least an inch longer in her absence. She looks just like my sister, and they even act the same most of the time. “How did you get here?”
“Your boyfriend over there took it upon himself to invite the entire family over,” she says, winking good-naturedly at Zack. “God knows where your father is, Reesie – actually, I think he went to go pick up your grandmother from the airport.”
“Might want another glass, Lica,” Lindsay comments, smirking at my mother. “You know how that old woman is.”
“Wise judgement, Liz,” my mother replies, grinning at her best friend. “Alpha, would you like to get me a glass? I would suggest pouring one for yourself, my mother-in-law is barely tolerable. Reesie, you know how that infernal woman – ”
“Talking about me already, Angelica?” Speaking of the devil, my grandmother has magically appeared from down the hallway. Her hair is thick and straight, gray with old age, but her bright green eyes are as sharp as a hawk's and don't hesitate to skewer through my mother's.
“All good things, Janelle,” my mother says through tight lips. I'm sure she's wishing her own mother could have made it here, rather than my father's mother.
“I'm sure they are,” my grandmother snaps. “Where on earth is my grand – Teresa!”
I practically jump three feet in the air at my grandmother's yelling. “Hello, Grandmother.”
