Hey y'all! Hope you enjoyed your Halloween :) I just stayed in and handed out candy to kids haha. We have no school Tuesday because of election day so I may update again soon on this story or possibly another story (most likely Daywalker).
Anyways, enjoy this chapter! It's kinda short but it'll have to do.
xoxo,
Morgan

I wake up to a god-awful beeping sound that is growing increasingly louder and louder. I want it off. It feels like there's a needle in my arm - shit, did Amber take me to the hospital?
She's standing right in front of me, biting her nail with a scared look on her face.
"Amber," I hiss, narrowing my eyes at her. "What the hell?"
"Thank god," she breathes out. "I thought you were dying or something, Tess."
"Don't call me that," I say. I don't want to be reminded of Zack. Not now, not ever.
"I won't," Amber agrees hastily.
"When can I leave?"
"Um.." She has the decency to at least look slightly sheepish. "I'm not really sure."
"I want to leave right now," I say. "I cannot stay here."
There's a loud noise in the waiting room, followed by Amber closing the door to my hospital room.
"Why are you closing the door?"
"I figure you don't want to -" The door is flung open, almost hitting my friend in the back of the head. She moves just in time, eyes flitting to me and back to Zack and Adrian about five million times.
"See him," she finishes lamely. Zack acts like he doesn't even hear her.
"Tess!" He's suddenly in my face, bloodshot eyes assessing if I'm okay or not. "Thank god you're okay. I was so worried about you!"
He buries his face into the crook of my neck, placing two small kisses there.
I can't breathe. My heart is going into overdrive, fluttering as fast as a bird but with the intensity of an 808 drum. I can hear all my blood roaring in my eyes as my lungs gasp for air. All I can think about is seeing my sister on top of him, my sister flying into the side of the house, him hitting me. That freezing feeling is back, making my hands shake and my body feel so cold that I think my toes are going to fall off.
He's still on me, only now he's leaning back and asking Amber what's wrong. She looks pissed, pointing at the door and telling him to go right now. Adrian says something I don't hear, making Amber look even more irritated, if that's even possible.
Zack lets go, but doesn't leave yet. He's staring Amber down, drawing himself up to his full height to try and intimidate her.
"Why do I have to leave? I'm her mate," he asks, looking furious that she doesn't even back down. Automatically, my mind jumps to the worst possible conclusion, even though I know he saves his darkest side for me and me alone. Oh god oh god oh god, don't hit her. Don't hit her because of me.
"Look at what you're doing to her!" Amber snaps back, stabbing her finger in my direction. His eyes swivel to me and back to her in a heartbeat.
"How do you know that's even me? Maybe she's reacting like that because her sister is dead!" he hisses back.
Amber laughs harshly and without humor. "Shut up, Zack. That's not why and you know it."
"Then tell me," he snarls. "What is?"
