"What?"
"Yeah. Shane and everyone have made videos and even a Go-Fund-Me to help you. I started my own channel and made videos on both mine and yours explaining what happened. Everyone's been so worried you weren't gonna make it."
I sat in silence for a moment to process everything. I was in a coma for a month? It didn't feel like more than a few hours. Everyone spent all their time to worry about me when they don't all even know me that well. They cared.
The door flew open and Shane rushed in, followed by Ryland, Morgan and Garrett, who was filming. "Oh thank god, you're okay!" Ryland said, being the first of the bunch to hug me.
Shane was crying and Morgan was close to tears. Shane walked over and hugged me for a while, and started talking between sobs.
"I thought you weren't gonna wake up. I thought you.... Oh my god," Shane cried. "I'm so glad you're okay."
I got hugs from everyone, a teddy bear from Morgan, a few envelopes of cards from fans, and a lot of updates on what I missed.
Two days later, the doctors cleared me to go home. Andrew drove over to the hospital when I called him to come get me. He signed me out and helped me to the car, me using the most-likely-permanent cane the hospital gave me. The bullet had hit something that screwed up my left leg, so I had to get around on a cane, possibly for the rest of my life.
Andrew drove me home, using my car as I had asked him to. He helped me up the front steps to my door and walked inside with me. I sat down on my couch and he sat next to me, his arm over my shoulder.
I rested my head on his shoulder. I was finally back at home. "Do you not have any plans for the day?" I asked.
"Nothing except stay here and take care of my girlfriend," Andrew replied.
"Andrew, I can handle myself just fine," I told him, standing up and walking slowly towards the kitchen.
"That cane says otherwise," Andrew replied, stepping in front of me and taking my cane-free hand in his own. "Look, I love you Hayley. And I'm not leaving your side until you're better. Maybe not even then."
"Andrew, you know that I might need this cane for the rest of my life, don't you?" I asked.
"Whether you have it or not, you will get better. You'll be able to get up stairs and move around at a faster pace at least. Even if you need the cane still, I will always be here to love you and help you and care for you. Always," Andrew said sweetly.
I kissed him, allowing it to last a few moments. "I love you too, Andy, but you don't need to waste your life on mine."
"I'm not wasting my life. Every second with you is a second worth living. Even if I have to stay here and never leave, I want to take care of you. Even if no one else will."
