"So, Beebo, this is the wondrous Hayley you've been telling us about?" Josh said with a smile. "I'm Josh."
I shook hands with Josh, and then Tyler, then Dallon. "I'm Tyler," Tyler said.
"And I'm Dallon," Dallon (obviously) said.
"Jeez, that was the most uncomfortable greeting ever," Brendon said, making us all laugh. "Anyways, how about we head over to the pool and I grab us some drinks?"
"Le's go," Josh slurred, running out of the room, through the dining room, out the screen door and jumping head first into the pool.
Tyler and Dallon headed outside, and Brendon told them we'd be out in a minute. Brendon and I changed into our swimsuits, then headed outside with a cooler of ice cold beer.
Brendon did a backflip into the pool, and I just sat with my feet in the water. Brendon swam to the surface and noticed I wasn't even in the pool. "You coming in babe?"
"Eh, never been one for swimming," I replied.
"Oh, come on. I was your best friend before I was your boyfriend. You love swimming," Brendon answered.
"But my leg, remember?"
"So what? You told me it doesn't hurt anymore. Besides, you know if you don't come in on your own, I will pull you in," Brendon warned.
"Yeah, come on Hayley," Tyler said.
"Don't be a party pooper," Josh said with a fake frown.
"Fine, I'll go in," I told them, Brendon pumping a fist in success celebration. "But don't get jealous if I beat you in style, especially with my leg."
Brendon, Josh, Tyler and Dallon all looked confused as I stood up and climbed on top of the tile wall Brendon jumped off of. I climbed onto the tallest point and they looked worried. I turned around and did a double backflip.
I plunged towards the bottom of the pool, and as soon as I felt ground underneath my feet, I pushed up and reached the air quickly. I opened my eyes to see Brendon raising his eyebrows.
"Jealous of my style yet?" I smiled at him.
"Maybe a little bit," Brendon replied. "But guess what?"
"What?"
"Bet you didn't see this coming." Brendon went underwater and it took a second, by he had hold of my legs and swam up with me sitting on his shoulders.
"Hey!" I yelled in surprise.
"Chicken fight!" Josh yelled. Tyler hopped on Josh's shoulders and we all started smiling and laughing.
"I'll be the ref here," Dallon said, staying to the side. Brendon took us closer to Team Joshler. Dallon seemed to read my mind when he said, "Alright, Team Joshler versus Team Brayley. Make it a clean fight. Ready, go!"
Tyler and I locked hands, trying to push each other over, meanwhile, Brendon and Josh were cheering us on. Finally, instead of being normal, I stood up on Brendon's shoulders, obviously scaring him, but managing to knock Tyler over.
I raised my hands in the air. "Yes! We are victorious!" At the same time, me and Brendon's brains went to one place.
"Tonight we are victorious! Champaign pouring over us! All my friends, we're glorious! Tonight we are vic-tor-i-ous!" We sang.
I started laughing, but slipped and fell backwards into the water. Everyone else, except Brendon, was laughing harder, but Brendon swam to the bottom of the pool and pulled me back to the top.
We laughed it off and had a few more chicken fights. Everyone but Brendon dried off and sat at the table we had outside while my oddball boyfriend laid on a pool floaty with a beer in his hand.
I grabbed my phone and snapped a picture of him, then posted it to Instagram. The next morning, there were so many likes and comments.
