I ate a can of Raviolis and then wanted to head upstairs to my bedroom. I rinsed my bowl in the sink while Andrew watched tv in the living room.

"Andrew, I'm going up to bed," I told him as I walked through the kitchen to the small area the connected the kitchen and dining room, which had the staircase in the center.

Andrew jumped to his feet and rushed over to me. "I'm right here if you need my help, okay?"

"I've got it. And you don't have to sleep on the couch, you know. You can sleep up here with me if you want to."

I slowly began to make my way up the stairs, and about a third of the way up, Andrew figured I had it from there. I was about halfway up when a jolt of burning pain rushed through my leg.

I yelled out in pain and tumbled to the bottom of the stairs, Andrew rushing back over just in time to catch me before I hit the floor at the bottom. I felt dizzy and the burning kept getting worse, up until I passed out from the pain.

Andrew's POV

I heard Hayley yell and saw her falling down the stairs. I ran back over and caught her, then picked her up all the way. Her eyes fluttered and she passed out. I laid her on the couch and called her doctor.

"This is Dr. Tre, how can I help you?"

"Yeah, Dr. Tre, Hayley Thompson just passed out after falling halfway down the stairs. I think she's pretty much okay as far as injuries, but what do I do?"

"If she has sustained no further injuries, just wait for her to wake up and ask her what happened. If anything unusual comes up, give me a call."

"Thanks doc," I replied.

"Anytime."

I hung up and grabbed Hayley's cane, then set it next to the couch. I figured since she was headed up to bed, she'd obviously want to be there, so I picked her up again and carried her upstairs to her room, then set her cane next to her up there.

My phone started ringing just as I laid her down. "Hello?"

"Hey Andrew," It was Garrett. "How's Hayley doing?"

"Uh, well she just felt down half a set of stairs and fainted."

"What? When did this happen?" I could hear the concern in his voice.

"Just a minute or two ago. The doctor said she'll be fine when she wakes up. If not, call him back."

"Andrew, oh my god. Your girlfriend just collapsed and you're just sitting there? What the hell?"

"Wait, what happened?" I heard Morgan ask in the background.

"Hayley just fell down her stairs," Garrett told her.

"Holy shit, is she okay?" Morgan asked.

"Yeah. The doctor said she'll be just fine when she wakes up, so yeah. She's okay."

"Do you want us two to come over?" Garrett asked.

"No no no, I've got it under control. You guys just chill. We've all been on the edge for a month now. Just relax and stay there. Okay?" I replied.

"Fine. But if you need anything, call us," Garrett said.

"Got it. Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up and put my phone away. I laid down next to Hayley and wrapped my arm around her stomach, careful not to touch her scar.

Eventually, I fell asleep.
