Hayley's POV

> 5 months later >

Finally done with the tour and away from the doctor, I was adjusting to my new leg. Brendon was off recording with Dallon today, so I figured I'd go out and do something.

I changed out of my pajamas and into a shoulderless black top with long sleeves and ruffles, along with jean shorts and black boots. I added sunglasses and the feather necklace Brendon got me for our 6 months anniversary.

I took my phone and my wallet, then drove to the mall. I walked around for a while since I didn't know which stores I wanted to go to quite yet. I stopped next to Hot Topic and thought for a moment.

Before I could walk in, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I spun around to see him. Andrew fucking Siwicki. "What do you want, Andrew?"

"Please, Hayley, hear me out. I know you're with Brendon now, but I want to apologize. It was wrong for me to jump to conclusions the way I did then. I'm not saying break up with Brendon and get back together with me, I would never say that, I just want to be forgiven and hope we can at least be.... I don't know, friends?"

"Thank you for not trying to split up me and Brendon, for one. And two, I will forgive you only because I know you're being honest. And if we're going to be friends, promise me one thing," I replied.

"Yes. Anything," Andrew said.

"Promise me you won't get jealous of Brendon or be a total dick to him just because he's my boyfriend and you're my ex."

"I promise. Also, I didn't know you went to Hot Topic."

"And I didn't know you went to the mall, but here we are," I cocked and eyebrow and walked into Hot Topic. I found a couple things and talked to Amdrew, catching up on what we've been up to the last couple months.

I paid for my stuff and then Andrew asked a very obvious question. "So, not to be rude, but what happened to your leg? I know you got shot, but I didn't think it would get this bad."

"Oh, yeah. So I went on Panic!'s Pray For The Wicked tour and started losing weight and sleeping a hell of a lot more than usual. My leg was hurting pretty bad, a lot worse than a normal day. Eventually, it all caught up to me 5 months ago at one of our concerts and I was rushed to the hospital. I found put it was vine cancer, but in the earlier stages. They removed my leg and I'm cancer free."

"Shit, Hayley. You're okay though, right?" Andrew asked.

"Yeah. I mean, I get the occasional glances from other people, but Brendon and Dallon's fans are used to it, and they always recognize me. I honestly love this leg more than the real one because I don't really limp anymore."

"Well, I have definitely missed a lot more than you have. That's for damn sure," Andrew replied.

I laughed. Then my phone rang. "Hello?"

"Hey babe, where you at?" It was Brendon.

"Hey Brenny, I'm just at the mall. And you're not gonna believe who I ran into," I told him.

"Who? Wait- it better not be Andrew. I will kick h-"

"Brendon, it's fine. Yes, it's Andrew, but he apologized and promised not to try and get between us. You can stop being overprotective," I said goofily towards the end.

"Alright, I trust you. But if he tries anything-"

"Then I'll call you. And while I'm out, do you need anything?" I asked, changing the subject.

"Uh, no, but could you get me a-"

"Triple chocolate cookie and a fudge sundae from Jared's?" I finished.

"Aw, you know me so well," Brendon said. "How long you gonna be at the mall?"

"Probably another two hours. I might make a stop at my friend Kaela's house. Why?"

"No reason, just curious. I love you," Brendon replied.

"Love you too. Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up and put my phone back in my pocket. Andrew and I continued talking until we ran into a face I recognized from somewhere, but I can't remember where I'd seen him before.

I stopped him and asked, "Do I know you from somewhere?"

The man looked at me curiously, then glanced at my leg, a shot of fear turning his face pale. He took of running.

This was the guy who shot me.
