Lexa's pov
"So what exactly happened?" Clarke and I are walking around the main clearing slowly relying on our other senses as the sun sets behind the trees. I shrug my shoulders.
"I don't really know. I asked Octavia and she said that something shifted." I intertwine Clarke's fingers with my own, straining my eyes to look where I'm stepping.
"She said she wasn't sure if something went off in her head, like a thought, or if she had maybe said something or maybe Y/n had seen something out her window. But whatever happened Octavia worked to comfort her while she sorted out her thoughts." We make our way down to the feeding clearing toward a bench to sit on. We both sit our hips flush with one another as I lean forward on the table and stare down at the blackness.
"Octavia left for a moment because she realized Y/n may have been acting off because she hadn't eaten." I release a sigh as I remember noticing the drying river on her cheek.
"We found her still on her bed but she wouldn't move or talk or look at us. I even noticed a sparkle on her cheek that when I got a better look I realized it was a tear path." I take in a sigh.
"She was crying." I nod and pull Clarke closer to me. I can feel her worry grow in the crack of her voice.
"We were just trying to distract her." Clarke leans her head on my shoulder and releases a sigh. I small smile spreads on my lips as I look at the silhouette of my beautiful blonde. "I just wanted to hear her laugh. It's a beautiful sound."
"She was probably off because of the food but also probably because she couldn't go and get it for herself." I nod realizing that is exactly how she used to describe Raven after she lost her leg. I rub her back while my mind wanders off to the shorter brunette.
"Ya well, her knee has healed quite nicely over the past few days."
"Ya, I suppose so" She shifts her head on my shoulder and places on my thigh. I sigh in comfort as I breathe her in. "The cut on her neck is nearly scarred over."
"She keeps itching at it though. Octavia said that she had to call Raven in to hold Y/n down while she tied her hands to the headboard of her bed." She released a soft chuckle.
"That's tough love." I nod quietly; drinking in the darkness that surrounds us.
"Can we take her for a walk tomorrow?" She raises her head off my shoulder to give herself more space as she laughs, "She's not a dog Lexa." I shrug my shoulders and smile when I realize she probably cannot see my body well enough to know my response. "She's submissive like a puppy." I laugh a bit at my own statement, her laughter chiming in with mine. We soon fall into a calm silence with only the humming in the night air.
"Just us three or make it a field trip?" I lightly chuckle and roll my eyes, "What are we kids?" I lean my head on her shoulder focusing my attention on her quiet breathing. I get no response so I turn my head on her shoulder and begin to nibble softly on her warm skin.
"Mmmm..." I nibble a bit harder, raking my teeth over her skin. I imagine the marks on her skin left behind in small trails. I pull away with a small smirk on my lips, "You may need to wear a jacket tomorrow." She laughs at me while she turns and faces me, our nose brushing against one another bringing electricity in the night. "I suppose I will." I feel the same butterflies I felt when I heard Y/n's laugh. I drink in her warm breath taking away space between our lips.
Her hands wrap themselves around my neck, absentmindedly tugging at my shirt. We separate for air our foreheads touching while our breathing slows. I bring my hands to the sides of her face, tugging her swollen bottom lip with the pad of my thumb.
"You are delicately beautiful Clarke." I hear her breath catch in her throat and connect our lips once more. I angle my self to deepen the kiss and slowly push her on her back on the bench. Her hands scratch the back of my clothes while I rest her head in my hands to keep her comfortable.
I pull at her bottom lip and pull back to land a soft kiss on her nose. "Let's go to bed." She hums in response as we ease our way back to a sitting position. I take her hand in mine and begin to lead her back to our tent. "We'll check on Y/n in the morning."
Y/n's pov:
I lean my journal closer to the window to get as much light from the moon I can. Small tears prick my eyes as I finish with the last line. I place the pencil between the pages and wrap the worn book close. I shift my left leg slightly, cringing a small bit at what little pain remains. Maybe tomorrow I can go and pick some inkberries if the all-powerful doctor will allow me to move.
I lay back down on my bed and pull the small blanket over my waste, laughing at how Clarke's motherly concern is very cute. I close my eyes to replay the concerned smiles and happy thoughts that the girls had given me rubbing my gold pendant in between my thumb and forefinger while a light hum grows in my throat as Clarke and Lexa's smiles play on repeat, their eyes staring through me. My heart, warming as I feel someone possibly understand the real me.
I let out a sigh while the two girls stay stuck in my mind. The feeling of the peaceful dark slipping through my veins.
Tomorrow is another day.
