Lexa's pov:
I woke up to lips on my cheeks. Opening my eyes I see Clarkes face glowing beside me. She pauses her light kisses when she sees my eyes are open. "Morning baby girl," my morning voice rasping out. I watch her beautiful smile grow as she hears me. She quickly pecks me on the lips, the smile not leaving her face. "Hey, babe. Good morning."
She slowly gets up. I bite my lip as she the morning sun cascades against her perky chest. I watch the curves of her body while she gets up and overly stretches in front of me. I groan softly as she bends down in front of me. She turns her head and looks at me still bent over, a knowing look on her face. I roll my eyes and bite my lip harder. Yes, she gets to me very easily and she knows it.
"Get up!" She throws a shirt and pants at me. I look at her confused. "We have the defense meeting this morning, remember?" My eyes shoot open as I remember, "shit, I forgot." I get up quickly and grab a bra and thong and put them on, ignoring my girlfriend's laughing.
I turn completely dressed and see her waiting by the flap of the tent for me, her pack already over her shoulder. I grab my sheaths and tug them over my shoulders and follow her out of the tent and into the clearing.
We make our way through the clearing. Clarke waves to a few people from skaikru as we pass some of the tents of Hiraeth. I continue with my eyes steady forward, smirking when I feel Octavia's presence behind me. I halt my walking, causing Octavia to lightly brush me as she slides by me to try not to ram into me. She looks at me with a side glance as she passes, "how did you know?" I simply shrug my shoulders and continue to walk, a small smirk on my lips.
We enter the grand tent of the village. I sit in between Octavia and Clarke, keeping my eyes level with the others gathered in the room. "Good morning Heda." I nod to Indra and scan the room. Along with Indra is Dr. Griffen, Marcus, Thelonius, and Bellamy. I narrow my eyes at Titus, there is no need for him at a simple defense meeting. I relax a bit as I feel Clarke's hand on my thigh under the meeting table. I turn and we make eye contact, he eyes hold the same suspicion as mine.
"To what do I owe the pleasure, Titus?" I turn my head back to the group, keeping my facial features stern. He bows his head. "Heda," another head bow, "the mountain men have made contact with Polis. They radioed seeking for a deal." I stare straight at him, my eyes not faltering at his statement. "What exactly is the deal?" Clarke gently squeezes my thigh.
"They will give all of the grounders they have taken back if we hand over all of skaikru." I feel Clarke's hand tense on my thigh, out of the corner of my eye I see Octavia's jaw tighten. "That will not happen. They are apart of us not. The 13th clan, remember?" I stare straight at him, anger building in my eyes. The pit of my stomach churning in rage.
"I want our people back, but giving them more of our people to get those who have been taken from us is not an option." Titus's adam's apple travels along his neck as he takes a gulp of air. "They said if we do not then they will just start taking them regardless." His voice was softer now, timid. "We have soldiers for a reason, Titus. I will not be bullied into giving up my own people." I look at Indra who is angerly listening along, her daughter was taken a few months before the converge by the mountain men. "Indra do we have enough guards to guard the camp?" She nods her head, her eyes glued to the table.
I look to Clarke, "We cannot just leave our people in that mountain. That is not fair to them." She shakes her head, "we're not going to leave them there." I narrow my eyes at her as she looks at Bellamy and Octavia. "Do we have enough warriors within skaikru and the grounders to guard the camp and recon on mount weather?" Octavia nods, but Bellamy pauses. "We should, but we will need a solid mix within both groups in order to actively defend the camp and make it through the woods safely and most effectively." I nod, looking back at Titus.
"Mom, do we have enough supplies here for the injured?" I pull my eyes towards Dr. Griffin as she nods, "we still have quite a few who are sick and need attention, but the antidote appears to be working. We have plenty of herbs, but could always need more along with medical instruments." I nod, "so this will be a recon that will extra materials first and locates any weaknesses." "Okay, wait. How are we supposed to get into the mountain? The only way through is the front door, which is always locked, and the tunnels that the reapers use."
"We could use the tunnels. We already know how to change them back from reapers, we will just need to be patient and blockade them so they are unable to get out of the main tunnels."
"Lincoln told me there is a main clearing within the tunnels that connects to all of them." I look at Octavia, "so if we find that clearing then use it to find the main passage into the mountain, we can block off all other exits and force them to wait."
"Okay, so who is going where?" Clarke's hand slides off my thigh as she rummages through her pack, "I'll start a list."
Y/n's pov:
It's a peaceful morning in Hireath, I have been laying in bed for a bit now just listening to the chirping of the birds. I hum a tune with them, my hand subconsciously holding my pendant right above my chest, thumb stroking it.
As I sit up I groan from the exhausted pain felt throughout my body. I stretch and crack my neck, leaning down to pull my sweatpants that had rolled up during the night down to my ankles. I turn and open the window flap a bit more so I have a clear view of the greenery surrounding the backside of my tent. I think today is a good day to go for a wander, besides I need more inkberries.
I get up slowly off the ruffled sheets and make my way to my desk, my knapsack placed on the stump stool beside it. Clarke said last night that she would come to check on me later this afternoon so I have time to go and relax by the river again. I grab an old ruffled towel and put it in my knapsack, along with my journal, pen and what I have left for ink. I also grab a couple of small empty containers for the berries. I change into a pair of tight pants and my one of my black tank tops, then slide into my light grey boots. On my way out I grab a piece of bread off the desk and my blade.
I make my way quickly out of the main clearing of Hireath and into the forest, my eyes low until I feel the cool of the trees' shade. I peer at the leaves of the trees, watching beautiful birds flutter through the thin branches overhead. I let out a gasp as my foot catches in a upgrown root, my bruised knee twisting slightly and colliding with the muddy floor of the undergrowth.
I kneel there hunched over trying to ignore the shooting pain my left knee and ankle were giving me. I slowly get up and lean heavily on a tree trunk, my fingers clawing into the bark. I stand and catch my breath and step forward, willing myself to continue moving forward. I bite my lip with each step, trying to ignore the pain erupting from my left leg with each shift. I slowly continue to the river. The chirps of the birds blend with my humming as I distract myself.
