Clarke's pov:

I shift over and take a step to the right to try not to step on Y/n's feet as she trips once again over a root. "Y/n if you're not more careful I may just have to pick you up and carry you." She turns her head back to me and sticks out her tongue, I pull her shoulders to the side to stop her from walking into a tree. "Jeez screwball, could you at least try to pretend you have feet." I laugh at Octavia's comment watching Y/n pout at the older girl. I turn my head to Raven and smile proudly as she continues to keep pace with me. "Raven, how much equipment would you need from the mountain men's camp in order to break down the door?" Her eyes stay focused and trained at the ground while she estimates every factor in her head. "It depends on how you want to open it. Explosives would only work if we have someone on the inside to unlock it."

We make our way into the clearing and I take off my jacket placing it next to Y/n's on an old stump. "Otherwise I will need a lot of new wiring and mechanical pieces to be able to hack into the door." I nod my head as I lean to stretch out a bit.

"Alright, who's going fir-" "I got this." Octavia doesn't hesitate as she enters the middle of the clearing cracking her neck to look more intimidating. "Who do you want to face?" Her gaze sweeps us a couple of times before it lands on Y/n, a satisfied smirk spreads across her face. I look at Y/n who cracks a few knuckles before she walks to Octavia, the smaller brunette lightly bouncing on her feet and hands up to her face. "Don't you dare go easy on me O." Octavia's smirk pulls into a tight line, her eyes emotionless while her and Y/n begin to walk in circles respectively of each other. "Don't hold back."

"Alright," their muscles both tense under their skin, "begin." Octavia shoots out a jab. Y/n palms it and holds onto the taller girls wrist to twist it. Octavia goes onto her knees and keeps her eyes down to the ground. She kicks back with a bent leg. Y/n staggers back a few steps and regains balance. I turn to look at Raven. Her eyes trail the movements, the light in her irises mirroring each punch and kick. The bags under her eyes stick out a sickly amount while the color from her face seems to drain.

"Are yo-" I pause my question hearing a thump, my gaze back on the clearing I see that Octavia has Y/n in a headlock on the ground. Y/n wriggles for a moment but then closes her eyes and lets her body go limp. Octavia continues to squeeze the smaller girl. I open my mouth to stay stop, but Lexa intervenes first.

"Octavia stop." Lexa walks over to the two and pulls Octavia off Y/n. My mouth stays open terrified as the younger girl begins to cough on her hands and knees, spitting some blood to the ground. She slowly gets up on shaky feet, I begin to make my way over to her but feel a hand on my arm. I turn to Raven with an angry frown on my face to show my irritation. "Relax Clarke, she needs to do this for herself." I swallow a lump in my throat and turn back to see Y/n walking off to the opposite side of the clearing. "See, she's okay right now." I nod hesitantly not letting my eyes be taken off her.

I hear rapid steps and look at Octavia and Lexa fighting, but immediately shift my gaze back to Y/n. She's leaning against a tree hunched forward with her hands on either side off her face. I can see the muscles in her arms and legs tensing and relaxing. She leans her head back and I see a small trail of blood leading from her upper lip to her chin. I go to reach for my pack but feel Raven's hand on my arm again. "She's gonna get into more fights, wait till the end, Clarke." I take a deep breath and fix my gaze on the two fighting. Octavia has Lexa pinned to the ground by her shoulders, but Lexa pushes up into Octavia's gut receiving a grunt from Octavia.

I look back over at the tree trunk, my stomach sinking when I see no sign of Y/n. "Raven. Where did Y/n go?" I turn my head quickly to see a confused expression on her face. "Fuck." I make my way across the clearing, dodging a wild kick, quickly entering the woods by the tree trunk I last saw her, listening for any sound of her.

"Y/n?" I continue to walk through the undergrowth, making my way to a strange pounding sound. I slip behind a tree and watch as someone has Y/n's back against a wide tree trunk. They pound their fists against the trunk on either side of Y/n's head. My heart drops as I watch Y/n flinch, her arms crossed tightly across her body.

I move closer to the two bodies and notice Y/n's knuckles are swollen and bruised and the blood from her lip is smeared across her cheek. Her eyes stay looking at the ground so I take a rock and skip it to hit her foot. I watch her neck tense while she takes in a quiet breath, her eyes slowly move in my direction.

Her nostrils flare out as she takes in another breath, I watch the concern wash from her eyes, her eyebrows turning down in anger as she turns her gaze on the stranger. No words are said but I see the jaw of the figure flex behind their mask, I quietly make my way behind the figure. Y/n continues to stare them down, her fists clenched.

I reach for my gun and realize that I left it with my pack internally cursing my past self. There's a crunch from leaves I step on and the figure turns around, my eyes flicker down their body and notice a gun on their hip. Y/n sends a hook to his temple. He knocks back enough for me to grab the gun. Y/n punches his chin just below his mask. She goes for his stomach but he grabs her arm and twists it sending the small brunette to her knees. "Stop." I stand up and point the gun at the masked man, a small trickle of blood escaping from beneath his mask.

"Clarke!" I keep my gun pointed at the figure and let myself catch my breath while Raven and Octavia come to my side. Both immediately freezing when they see the figure and Y/n.

I see rustling behind the figure and watch Lexa pull her sword out of its sheath. "Raven," I shake the gun slightly while whispering to Raven. I see her nod beside me.

"Go." I toss the gun in the air for Raven to catch while Lexa, Octavia and I run in.

Lexa stabs the figure's torso. I kick his arm and pull Y/n away from their reach. Octavia kicks their chest slamming them further into Lexa's blade.

BANG

I push Y/n to the ground beneath my body as Lexa and Octavia hit the floor. I turn my gaze to a furious Raven and smile receiving a small one in return. I look at Y/n and watch her eyes watch mine. I lean down further and take her lips in mine in a soft kiss. "You scared me, baby." Feet move next to us and I get up to allow Lexa to pull Y/n into a bone-crushing hug. Raven comes over and leans on me releasing a small sigh of relief. "Y/n how many times do we have to save your ass?" Raven's comment gets a small chuckle from the younger brunette.

Octavia stops laughing, her expression turning serious as she holds Y/n's hands in her own. "What happened to your knuckles?" she turns the swollen knuckles in her hands to get a good look. Y/n attempts to pull away but is still locked in a hug with Lexa. I come over next to Octavia and notice some small splinters lodged in her skin. I furrow my eyebrows and look at the younger girl, taking notice that she won't make eye contact with me.

"What... did you have a fight with a tree," Raven laughs out, but her laugh slowly fades. All eyes on Y/n. Octavia pulls Lexa away from Y/n, pushing the smaller brunette back slightly. I notice Octavia's arm raise and tense.

SLAP

Y/n keeps her face turned, a single tear slipping from her eye while she lets the red hand mark form on her cheek. I see her hands clench into fists.

We all stand still while Y/n slowly turns her head. The bags under her eyes bulge as her eyes swell, a wall of tears forming in front of the brown of her orbs. Her jaw is clenched, eyes shooting daggers through Octavia while she holds back the tears.

The small brunette lets out a breath and the anger etched in her eyebrows falters. Octavia pulls her into a hug while she tries to catch her breath, her usually deep rasp is a small high whimper.

My heart breaks while I stand frozen watching the tears fall down her cheeks.
