Clarke's pov:

I push my body against the back of Y/n's, forcing her to lean over the rock. I push my hand on hers to help give pressure to her throat, her body stiff against mine. I follow her breathing to make sure it is not stunted. It is not horribly deep, and her neck was extended so he probably didn't get any major arteries. I take her shoulder in my hand and help her lean against me, slowly bringing us to the ground by the rock. I rest her head on the arm that is against her neck, using my other to pull her hips to lean against me so she will stay on her side. I look around to try and find my bag.

"Lexa get the scarf out of my bag." Lexa grabs my bag and takes out the cloth poncho not taking her eyes off the surrounding woods. "Rip off a long piece for me," she doesn't hesitate as she pulls the cloth apart in her hands, her muscles flexing as she pulls. I grab the strand she makes and turn back to Y/n, "Y/nn, I need you to relax. Now," I feel a slow release as her muscles soften against mine. I feel her almost melt into me then taking the opportunity to wrap the cloth band around her neck. She gags a bit, but soon breathes normally, a slight rasp evident in her breath.

"It's not a deep cut, probably hit a small vein or two," I shift to check the bleeding that has slowed a little bit, "You need to keep your breathing slow and stay relaxed." I hear a small okay along with footsteps on the sand around us. Looking up I watch Lexa sit by our heads near the river. "Mountain men do not travel alone," her green eyes flick up to me with slight worry and anger. I nod. Leaning up on my elbow I take a look at the body of the now burned mountain man. "He was going to take her," it was a small whisper, registering what the mountain man's intentions were.

I sit up the best I can allowing Y/n to still be leaning on my arm, I feel her steady breathing against me. Lexa shifts to move the loose hair from Y/n's face, tucking it behind her ear. Y/n's eyes are calmly trained to the mixture of grays the rock in front of us is painted with, her jawline slightly clenched. "We need to get her back to camp, my mom and I need to make sure that cut will not get infected." Lexa nods, "can she walk?" I shift to face my body as best I can towards Y/n. "Yes, but she shouldn't. We don't want her blood to start pumping too much until we can seal up the damage around her neck."

"Alright, I'll carry her," I put my free hand up to signal her to stop, "I've got her babe." I pull Y/n into my arms and slowly start to stand, feeling Lexa's hands on my side to make sure I get up. I look at Lexa with an annoyed side glance, feeling her smirk gracing her beautiful lips. "Wipe that smirk off your lips," she snatches a kiss from me, the smirk still evident. "You are amazing." I turn to start walking, biting my lip as the feeling of her lips on mine fades, "please grab her bag and mine as well." I cradle Y/n's head in my arm so it doesn't stretch, her breathing slow. I watch her glassy and unblinking eyes stare peacefully at the sky, entranced by something I cannot understand.

"Quick thinking with your blade Y/n," I softly whisper and turn to make sure Lexa is alright as the shade of the trees cools my vision, "he freaked out the moment he realized you popped his only protection." I lean against the trunk of a tree, the bark digging against the skin of my shoulders. Lexa bends over and grabs something on the other side of the rock by the shore. She stands with a notebook in her hand.

"Were you drawing?" I get no vocal response but instead a flicker of a smile. Her gaze unwavering to the unknown above. A sweet hum fills the air as Lexa joins us with the two bags, worn notebook in hand. She pauses in front of us, eyebrows brought together. "The bruise on her knee looks much bigger." I shift my gaze to her knee and notice it is freshly swollen. "I'll look at it when we get back," I shuffle her body up my arms for better grip, "we need to cover her." Lexa nods and drops the bags to tussle through them, at last pulling out the scarf cloth that she throws over the majority of Y/n's partially naked frame.

I start to clamber along next to Lexa. Edging along to make sure I don't trip or misplace my footing. Y/n's head tucked within the fold of my arm starts to lull as I watch her eyes grow heavy.

"We need to tell Bellamy about the possibility of more mountain men around here."

The small hum from Y/n starts to slow. "I will. You take care of Y/n." I nod to Lexa though I know she can't see me.

"Alright, I will try to catch my mother up about what happened," I shift a bit to step over a large branch blocking the tattered path, the humming is no longer heard in the mix of nature noises.

"She's so sweet babe," her eyes spark with the glance over her shoulder. Our eyes meet and I feel my teeth subconsciously bite my lip. "She's cute right?" I continue to look at her and admire her slightly unconscious form.

"Good news though," I duck under the overhanging tree branch and enter the clearing behind Lexa. "Ya, what's that?"

"The sticky leaf balm is doing wonders. The bruises on her arms are not nearly as big as they were last night." We stop by the entrance to the medical tent. Lexa quickly leans in and leaves a kiss on my cheek.

"I will see you in the tent later." I bite my lip at the shine of lust flickering in the green of her eyes. I nod then enter the medical tent without another word.
