As weeks proceeded to pass by, the Buckingham manner was pretty quiet. The kids were content and in their own world with Stevie. During the weekend, Lindsey and Kristen would take them out and that was to spend time as a family. Stevie had the evening of Saturday and all of Sunday off, and she was content. She didn't really have much to do other than write and play music while the children were gone.
"Stevie?" Lindsey knocked on her bedroom door.
"Come in," she had a sing-songy tone to her voice which just made him smile.
He pushed open the door and she was putting light makeup on.
"Yes?" she turned to face him.
After sitting infatuated for a few seconds, he mentally shook his head and prepared to say what it was he had to say. "Uh, Kristen and I are taking the kids out for a while. So feel free to do whatever."
"I appreciate it," she assured though the vanity mirror.
"Yeah..." he kind of lingered as he watched her. "I'm gonna go now," he backed away---not wanting to. "Do you need anything?" he asked.
"No, I'm perfectly alright... and very capable," she rose a brow with a slight smile.
"Right," he nodded. Shutting her door, he paused outside of it. "What the hell is wrong with me?" he mumbled to himself. He really shook his head this time and made his way down the stairs to meet his wife and kids.
"Lindsey, guess what?" Kristen asked with a smile.
"Yeah?" he plastered a smile since she seemed to be happy. "Where are the kids?" he asked first.
"I gave Will the keys to go get situated in the car. But I got you another date," she squealed.
"That doesn't seem like happy news," he grumbled.
"Lindsey, all I want is for you to be happy."
"Kristen, I--" he stopped himself from raising his voice. "What's her name?" he asked instead. He was going to go down the line of all the reasons he doesn't want to be involved with another woman, but it seemed to be useless talking to her, so amusing her was the only way at this point.
"Lorraine, and she is very nice. I think you'll really like her. She is different from the others, but she is--"
"How old is she?" he cut her off.
"A few years older than me, so like thirty-two maybe thirty-three. Will you go for me?" she begged as he began guiding her to the car.
"I will go for you," he assured as he ushered her out the door.
"Will you pretend to enjoy yourself?"
"Yes, I can act very well at this point," he paused. "Are you not going to this one?" be creased a brow.
"I have a doctor's appointment that day around the same time, so yes you'll be solo. But I can assure everything will go perfect. We can have Stevie help you out and put you together. After my appointment, I'm gonna come straight home. I always get tired from the exercises they have me do."
"Okay," he nodded gently. "This is ridiculous..."
"Hmm?"
"You---my wife, is going to be having some heart procedure and exercise done. But instead of being there for you and supporting you, I have to go on a date to meet some woman. Wouldn't you rather have me there? 'cause, that is where I'd rather be," he opened the passenger door for him.
She began whispering so her kids couldn't hear. "No, I'd rather---when the time comes, you're with somebody," she sat down in the passenger seat. "This conversation is over," she concluded aloud, once being in the vehicle full of kids.
