27. The Same Wide Eyes

Lorraine was actually pretty relieved with Lindsey going because, it stopped their shotgun wedding that neither wanted to fulfill.

"What is going on?" Diane asked.

"He's gonna go get the woman, he really loves..." Lorraine smiled. "Ladies and gentlemen, this wedding was not Lindsey or I's choice. We wanted to see Kristen's last wish out. Her wish was that her husband would fall in love with someone so he would be happy after she was gone. It's been months since he and I had agreed to that because I was her choice---being that I was her friend," she turned to the Messners. "You guys, I love you so much and I appreciate you trying to give me Lindsey, but it's not going to work and it never was going to."

The parents practically scoffed.

"Well, who is this woman, he is so in love with that he can't marry you?" her father like figure asked.

"Stevie," she answered bluntly and proudly. She had overheard his phone calls and recalled him calling her and leaving messages to her. She knew that, she was a reason for her not speaking to him.

Lindsey's band mates were totally stunned but really excited for him, since he had his head together now.

"Will, what are you doing?" Lindsey asked his son, who had climbed in right at the same time as he did.

"Where are you going?" William asked. He had gotten up and followed his dad. He wanted to know what would be so urgent that his dad would leave a wedding---his wedding.

"I have to find someone..." he lingered as he let his kid slide in.

"Stevie?" he asked.

"Yeah... why?" he paused.

"Dad, I miss her a lot and I'd rather her be our mom than Lorraine. Lorraine doesn't know how to cook and I feel doomed when you leave us with her."

Lindsey let out a chuckle. "Don't tell her that," he began driving to his place. "Buckle up, kid," he mentioned and his son obeyed. He had just about flown down the streets, not really paying attention to stop signs, but being alert to other drivers. He was in a big hurry and he was just trying to get to where Stevie was. That was all he wanted and that's what he planned to come back home with. He had no idea, what part of Arizona, her parents lived in, but he was going to find out.

"Stay here," Lindsey ordered his son as they pulled into the house courtyard.

"'Kay."

Lindsey ran to his office, to find some people. When he was driving he was thinking of who he could call. Stevie was so independent and private, that there was nobody to call. He finally came to the realization that Loretta Perry and Sharon Celani were her close friend and sister in-law.

He dialed Lori first. He bobbed his knee up and down strenuously as he waited for an answer.

"Hello?" Lori answered.

"Hi, is this Loretta Perry?" he asked.

"This is her, how can I help?" she asked.

"This is Lindsey Buckingham, I recall you looking for a job as a nanny..." he lingered in hopes she would remember.

"Oh yes, I recall you very well," she tried not to roll her eyes because, he was all her sister talked about.
