(The Next Morning)
Epifanio woke up early that morning. He turned on his side and stared at his wife. A few minutes later, she opened her eyes to see him staring.
"What?" she asked.
He smiled at her and put his hand to her cheek. Camila stared at him. She'd just woken up, and everything was already confusing.
"Feliz aniversario (Happy anniversary)," he said.
"Anniversary?" she replied.
"The day we got married."
"Shit. I completely forgot. Not only that but I also have to go out today. There's something I need to take care of."
Epifanio had remembered that she needed to head out somewhere. He had, however, forgotten that it would be the same day as their anniversary. He stared at her, his smile fading.
"Epifanio I'm sorry. If I had remembered I would've changed the day I needed to head out," Camila said.
"It's fine. It's my fault. I remember you telling me about taking care of something and I didn't bother to mention anything about today," Epifanio answered. "What is it you need to take care of?"
"That's just it. It's back in Mexico and I have no idea what the matter is. They just said I needed to go back."
"I don't trust it."
"Neither do I Epifanio. That's why Pote and James are coming with me. For my protection if anything happens."
"Didn't they side with Mendoza?"
"Yes. She'll be there too. I can trust them. She saved my life while I was in prison. She hooked up those women who came in last minute."
"That was her? Be careful then. Trustworthy people are not easy to find."
"I know. I'll be careful. You know very well that can take care of myself.
Epifanio kissed her. Camila got up and got ready to go back to Mexico for the next few hours. Epifanio wouldn't be going anywhere so he'd be able to take care of Isabella.
(In Mexico)
Camila met up with Teresa, James, and Pote. When Camila arrived at the location, each of them were not happy at all. All three of them gave her a glance. She knew something was up.
"The Jimenez Cartel is trying to get rid of you and your family. You're going to have to move somewhere else. They know your location right now," said James.
"We're keeping an eye on them. We have a rat on the inside who is giving us details. That's know we know that they know about the house in Dallas," Teresa added.
"We know of a place in Arizona where you can stay, but there's a problem. An officer there likes to harass Mexicans for fun. You won't be able to leave the house unless it's important," Pote finished.
Camila stared at them in silence. They'd have to leave because of threats from Boaz and still face the risk of being harassed? Arizona had a lot of drug cartels and gangs too.
"Arizona," Camila said. "I'll tell them about it."
"We'll be there too. Your family is going to have to get used to living with us around more often then they would want," Teresa said.
"Okay. We'll meet you in Arizona then."
Camila left. While on the plane home, she thought to herself. Of all days to have to give bad news. It just had to be on her anniversary. Camila returned back to the house in Dallas around 5 in the afternoon. Isabella was out with her friends and a few guards that Epifanio had sent with her.
