(In the car)
Camila had fallen asleep in the car, sleeping in Epifanio's arms. Epifanio was staring at her relieved. It was finally over. Somewhat at least. They no longer had to worry about Cortez chasing them. As for the rest of his men, of course they would be seeking revenge. That would depend whether or not they thought it was really worth it. Most of them had been cowards anyway.
After arriving back to the house, Epifanio carried Camila back inside. He didn't care who saw him, he just walked straight towards one of the bedrooms. He set her down and stared at her again. Regina, just then, walked in the doorway.
"How is she?" Regina asked.
"She's alright. Tired is all," he answered.
"I'm not surprised. Many are going to be very happy when they find out Cortez is gone. He'll never hurt anyone again."
Camila started to wake up. She looked around the room. Then, she saw Regina standing in front of her.
"Regina?" she asked.
"How are you feeling?" Regina returned.
"Like shit. You?"
"Better now that I know you're okay. I can't believe that I ever thought he would change."
"What do you mean?"
"I, uh, just knew him from a long time ago. You see I've always hated him, but.... I knew he had some issues and I thought that I'd helped him....." Regina stuttered.
"Well, I'm not sure what you might have done to try and fix his flaws, but at least you tried."
"Yeah... you get some rest now. You two have had a long night."
"You as well Regina."
Regina left the room and went to see her husband. Camila and Epifanio knew something was off. Her mood had dropped like a ton of bricks. Camila dozed off as she thought about it. Epifanio was not far behind her.
(With Regina)
Regina found her husband sitting on the sofa in front of the fire. She stared at him for a while, not knowing what to say to him. Her husband had been right, he never would have listened. Yet she still did it. Her husband didn't really have anything to say to her either.
She sat down beside him, not knowing what would happen. He turned to face her and only stared. Regina couldn't look at him in return. It was embarrassing. To think she'd failed when she tried so hard. He said he didn't want to be like their father who had left them, and he had ended up that way.
"At least you were smarter than me," Eduardo said, "You got him to stop for a little while. I didn't even bother trying."
"You're not angry?"
