"I'm not going to be the host of your party, come upstairs now," Camila said over the phone and then hung up. She knows it will be a while before he gets there, so she pulls out a small book she's hidden for a while.
In it, she writes: It's been 25 years. 25 years of marriage. With all of the bold decisions I've made, I'm afraid to tell him how I feel about this. One decision where I have to end up telling him why I chose the side I have, and yet I just can't. With as long as I've been with him, and I still love him to death, I just can't tell him I'm afraid of what might happen if we leave this...
"Ugh!" Camila exclaimed and then throws her pen she wrote with at the door while Epifanio walked into the room.
"You're certainly pissed," said Epifanio as he shuts the door behind him, leaving it open only slightly.
Camila shoves the book under the covers of the bed before he sees that she has it. "You got here fast," she said, to make sure he didn't notice.
"Yes, you said you wanted to talk," he replied, casting a confused glare.
She gets nervous but hides it well. They talk and argue for a while. Teresa, outside the door, hearing most of the conversation. Teresa quickly walks away so she won't be argued with for having listened in. "I was looking for the restroom," she said as Camila gave her a quick glance and then walked off quickly.
Epifanio apologized and then left himself. Teresa stood in the hall alone wondering what the hell any of that truly meant. Something was up for sure.
Days pass and Epifanio still tries to get Camila home. It didn't work for some time until she chose to go back. He finally thought he got her to come and stay. Thing was, he didn't realize that his doubts would be the least of his worries.
"I'm sending a plane, be on it," are his final words before both him and Camila hang up the phone.
"Would you like me to get your things?" a man asks her.
"No, I'm already packed," she replied.
"How did you know he was going to ask you back to Mexico?"
"I've lived around the ego for 25 years."
She takes the plane home where Epifanio meets her as she gets off the plane in Sinaloa. Epifanio greets her and all Camila sees it as is a joke. She can't believe she's really here. A party is being held and she greets the pope and meets other guests kindly. She hides how she really feels behind a convincing smile.
The party is over and the two are sitting on the back porch talking. He asks you once more about Teresa and all Camila does is give him that Cheshire cat smile that always made him give in. However, he hid it well this time. He was serious, after causing him to be seriously injured in that accident he wanted her to pay. Yet, there was more than an accident that he wanted her to pay for.
